QPR in pole to sign former West Ham forward, next hours decisive

According to reports in the Italian media, Queens Park Rangers are favourites to sign AS Roma forward Marco Borriello. The Premier League side are hoping to bring in the former West Ham United forward before the transfer window closes on Monday.

TMW have reported on claims in the Italian press that QPR are in a good position to sign Borriello during this transfer window. QPR recently joined the race to sign the player along with Serie A side Genoa who have been linked with Borriello in the past few weeks. The Italian club have made several approaches for the former AC Milan star but have they been unable to come to an agreement to sign him. TMW have revealed that QPR now lead the race to sign Borriello and the next few hours will be decisive to whether he will head to England for a second spell in the Premier League.

Another plus for QPR is that Genoa have just brought in a striker and therefore they may drop their interest in signing Borriello. Sassuolo forward Leonardo Pavoletti passed a medical with Genoa yesterday and will remain on loan with the Serie A side until the end of the season. Pavoletti has been one of the most sought after strikers in Italy this month, and he was even linked with a move to Leeds United.

Borriello had an uneventful six months with West Ham during the 2013/14 season and he played just two Premier League games in that period. The player joined the Hammers on a €700k loan deal but he suffered an injury early into his time at the club and therefore hardly featured.

Read that earlier today. Never rated him when he was at his best personally so pray to God this doesn't go through now he's well past that.

I'm beginning to think we need a central midfielder, full back, centre back and decent wide player more than a striker.

Don't score many. Washed up. Over 30. Can see why we're interested.

Agree James. A holding mid, left back and a winger is the 3 most important in my eyes
