  • TF's Tweets this morning...

    And I quote...

''Matt Philips is not going anywhere. He's an important player. The board is now very clear on what needs to be done.''

''@kropotkin39 there is no point keeping a player if he's not in the manages plan. Not for him or the club. I'm very happy with deal.'' - RE: Mutch.

The Mutch response is that one that slightly baffles me because I feel like responding to that tweet and asking the following Question -

Who the fvck bought him 5 months ago then if the same manager who is letting him go now bought him?

Good to hear Matty is staying... More needs to be got out of him, no doubt.

We've happily kept players in the squad since TF took charge who are 10 years older than Mutch, on twice the salary and not in the manager's plans. I think the deal made sense on this occasion, as I can't envisage any other scenario where we could've got back what we paid for Mutch.

Think Mutch was bough to play a part in 532

Much like Ferdinand, pretty much on the scrapheap once that was abandoned.

It's worrying a player signed for a large enough fee 5 months ago is now deemed surplus to requirements! Everyone was aware Mutch had a dodgy injury record, so that's no excuse!

Also, I highly doubt Phillips is in Harry's plans given the amount of times he's selected him over the last 18 months when fit.

If this is the case with Phillips he either needs to be played (not the odd subs appearance) or loaned out. This guy needs regular football and build his game and confidence up.
          SIR LESLIE FERDINAND!!

those tweets don't encourage me in any way.
the manager signed him in August only to decide he doesn't rate him after all.
as for the board is now clear on what needs to be done, does that include signing players before the deadline closes?

Exactly. He'd rather play a striker in Vargas out on the RW (rendering him largely ineffective) than player a specialist winger in Philips. If Redknapp doesn't rate him that does make me wonder a) why he signed him in the first place and b) how the club can justify selling Mutch for not being in the first team plans, but keep hold of Phillips.

I'm sorry but it's the CEO in any company that sets the plans and vision for the future..

Far far far too much emphasis on a ground we will struggle to fill in the premiership let alone the championship.

Chairman and his partners have spent money in the past (largely without aforementioned plan) and once again we look one of the weakest team in the relegation dog fight.

We hear time and time again that they have learnt from their mistakes and yet we find new mistakes to make... Sign a player for £6 mil..l don't play him consistently or with the right formation and then sell him for a small loss 6 months later... I'm sure if a managers had done a similar thing with planes in his own company that manager wouldn't be around long.

Buck stops with TF and as nce a guy as he might be he is quite clearly one of the most inept chairman in the game.

If Vargas gets injured - Phillips will play right Wing.

I don't know where Mutch would have played given an injury as He's not really a holding midfielder and Niko/Fer would come inside to play the attacking role. Maybe thats the reason

Ok then, you have your own business and you employ someone to do a job. A couple of mates have told you he's a good grafter and you've seen a couple of his jobs. When he starts working for you, he's not quite the bloke you heard he was. What do you do? Get rid or keep paying him?

Some players are a good fit for a club, others not so. Doesn't mean that the owners or manager are clueless.

You could be saying the same thing about Harry and TF should have got rid before now

I wouldn't of taken the punt in the 1st place.

And if that's the case why aint the rest gone quicker over the years?.. Cos lets be honest, it aint just Mutch that your theory applies for in regards to our players.

You may not have signed these players, but some managers have taken a chance, that's how they got into and stayed in the game. And as you know, you sign a player on a contract, it can be difficult to get rid. SWP is the classic example.
