I'm not finding it hard to imagine us getting relegated this season. At the start of the season (like the majority on here), I had hope that we would be competitive enough to stay up, but now I think nearly all of us can see that Harry really is the wrong man for the job.
Many of us have felt that for long time. I don't know what kind of spell Harry has over Tony Fernandes, but if we do get relegated, that would be Harry gone and the monkey would be off Tony Fernandes back. There would of course be the potential of a massive fine, depending upon how good the lawyers TF employs are, but he won't be alone, since several other clubs are prepared to challenge the Football League over their ludicrous FFP rules.
There is of course even the threat of being refused entry to the League being bandied about by the FL, but this is a highly unlikely outcome.
But whatever happens, if we are relegated, and even if we have to pay a large fine, it gives TF an opportunity to go back to square one and plan for the future in a far more sustainable way than how he has approached it thus far. The big IF is whether he would, even facing this scenario, finally work out that the best way to run a club is with not with a spendthrift manager and a motley collection of over-paid and often unsuitable players.
Sure, even with a good manager, a properly managed and sustainable structure, from the youth teams through to the first team, we may not return immediately to the promised land of the premiership, but we would stand a much better chance of staying there, if and when we did. And I for one would not mind us playing back at a level which currently suits us best. I enjoyed our last Championship season far more than this Premiership season so far, and I think I would enjoy it even more next season knowing Harry is gone. And if we had a younger, progressive manager in place, QPR might become and exciting and enjoyable team to support again.
The problem TF faces if we get relegated is his dream of the 40,000 stadium and all that hangs on that. However the relocation involves more than just building a stadium - in fact that is, in a sense, the Trojan horse to allow our billionaire owners access to a property regeneration goldmine, with the stadium part of a huge scheme, that would see them recoup massive profits in the long-term. It would become much harder to justify the larger stadium if we were in a lower division, but not impossible. Maybe TF might even consider a more realistic size, 30,000 say, or even 25,000 (with potential to expand if needs be).
It's maybe a scary scenario, but it could also be the best thing for the club. Burn off the burden, pay the dues, and start with a clean slate. What do you think?
