Charlie was scoring for fun in League One for Swindon at 19 years old and was scoring for fun for Burnley in the Championship from the age of 21. Slightly different to playing in League Two and not raising any eyebrows.

I think at 19 years he was with a non-league side....Poole or something. The point is that some players may develop a bit slower then others, however, a player must have a run to prove himself. We have senior players in our team that were given two, three seasons to show their qualities......and still did not improve.

He signed for Swindon in September 2009 aged 20 sorry and then for Burnley in January 2011.

I understand what you're saying but Harriman has had loans at St Albans, Wycombe, Gillingham and Luton. Ehmer at Yeovil, PNE, Stevenage, Carlisle and Gillingham. This has been their loan moves since 2011.

For me, there isn't any sign of progression and at 22, I don't think they're going to be good enough to make it at PL level. Obviously there are plenty of players who develop late and prove to be good enough but I'd be surprised if either of the above did.

Absolutely, this is the point that needs to be made, just because someone is young, doesn't mean he can be amazing or even good enough. As you said, Chelsea actually bought their way to youth success. Examples like Thorgan Hazard, Kalaz, Van Ginkel, Piazon, Wallace, Kakuta and Romeu weren't made in the chelsea academy but were bought and developed in the academy. That is what generally works, you buy youth and develop. Some may start with you and become stars but it is so unlikely.

No self-respecting, ambitious youngster with real potential would want to come here because we have done nothing to suggest they'll improve. Does anyone think Sterling would be the player he was today if he'd stayed at QPR>? No chance.

We need to improve our youth system but that takes years, it doesn't mean throwing a bunch of kids who will never make the grade into the first team squad.

I saw Harriman's game when he filled in for Luke Young (under Warnock ?) and he was fine
I also saw Ehmer in whatever match he came on as a sub under Redknap (last season ?) and he looked comfortable too

How on earth are they supposed to prove they are good enough if they never get a run out ? Last season in the championship was the time to test a few of the best youngsters in preperation for this season - big opportunity missed imo

Agree on this point but can also see that the pressure to go up immediately was immense. Harry obviously didn't trust the younger players to get us over the line, which is a shame.
