Aside from haggling over the numbers, which we all know are much higher than results would imply, did TF ever put himself forward as an identifier of football talent? If not, then it is the people working for him who own this massive failure. Yes, it is easy to see why he doesn't want to keep throwing silly money at the problem because it can vanish in the blink of an eye.'Only a Ranger!' cried Gandalf. 'My dear Frodo, that is just what the Rangers are: the last remnant in the South of the great people, the Men of West London.' - Lord of the Rings, Book II, Chapter I - Many Meetings.

What some website speculates we spent on players doesn't really matter - the books are fairly clear. 7th highest wage bill in the division, 3rd lowest turnover. Doesn't take Warren Buffet to tell you something's amiss.
The new FFP rules might be overly harsh, but it's absolutely criminal to run a club this poorly. I'd be a little more forgiving if some of the investment had gone into making the club sustainable long-term, but at the moment there's little evidence of that beyond architectural plans.
