I was one on this site writing to give our youngsters a go in the FA Cup, as I was of the impression that they will have a real go. After today result in the U21 game against Crystal Palace, I have changed my mind. We were trashed 7-2! Where they lethargic as well? Do we have promising youngsters or not?
As for the Zarate signing, many on this site questioned that CA cannot play on his own when we play away and so we cannot play with one loan striker. Will it still be the case now that we sign Zarate? I think is good as playing alone, although this means that our top scorer will be left on the bench!

I wouldn't read too much into one 7-2 result. One of those games with a few individual errors from what I could see. They aren't usually that bad.

Thought this was a write up of the Palace and Swansea games.

Just cannot ever see that being the case.

I'm pretty sure they have been pretty awful all season.

I didn't say they were good. Just not usually that bad.

No no I know, I'm just pointing out that they haven't really proven they even deserve a cup chance.

they sounded that bad today. palace had more than 12 shots on target compared to 5 for QPR.
I don't think QPR have many decent young players that are not out on loan.

The thing is, it takes years to put a proper development plan into place. That means looking at the scouting system, the schools interface, the philosophy, the whole works root and branch. I don't think we've paid nearly enough attention to what, as a small club, is potentially our greatest asset. And this neglect predates TF, although by putting Harry in charge he has perpetuated it. Star struck foreign chairman think you can buy success. If the well is bottomless you can, but for most boards in 2015 you develop talent rather than buy it.

As supporters you have to except that with a young guv'nor (like Eddie Howe or Kevin G) and an emphasis on development it's going to mean time at a lower level. But Southampton and Swansea managed it, and it pays off. Clubs like those are the models we should be emulating.

They probably cant be ars ed anymore as redrapp will never give any of them a chance.

Great idea guys, lets get relegated then, get destroyed by financial implications, lose the total support of the board and potentially be sold by the owners owing to the fact that ffp screwed us in the championship. Get relegated again to league 1, maybe league 2 if we are lucky, spend a few seasons there while we wait for some half decent Gem to pop up in our academy, who will probably leave soon enough when he realises that any club can actually promote youth. Then, maybe just maybe, if we don't get relegated to conference level, we may have a chance of using our ever fantastic youth program that at its best produced 1 good player in sterling to potentially challenge for mid table in league 2 like portsmouth but a bit better. Meanwhile, people on this board will still blame redknapp for these problems and not the general footballing system in place in this country. Soon enough though, maybe in a decade time, once the club has been renamed as a newco, we may clinch promotion to league 1 where everyone will be overjoyed at the progress we have made by being relegated 2 levels below where we are now but at least we are using our youth players.
Or, we could stick with what we're doing, potentially stay in this league and hence keep our good players and push on from there... I don't know which sounds more enticing though.

You can not run a football club flying by the seat of your pants. You have to look to a viable long term and that may mean starting all over again. Those of us who saw us rise from the old Div 3 understand that, we've seen it all.

If you don't want to be relegated, you have to change something. I think Redknapp is tactically unsound and unable to motivate and I think there are viable alternatives. If we do get relegated, we will have no option but to start again ie the thing you fear most. In other words, your line of reasoning only makes sense if you rate Harry. Your choice.
