When Harry first said that there was no budget for transfers only loans in this window the loudest reaction on here was that this was just bluff to make sure clubs didn't overcharge us. But now we have confirmed interest in a loan for Zarate and unconfirmed interest in a loan for the Chelsea kid plus persistent rumours about loans for Townsend or Lennon, does anyone still think he was bluffing? Not me. Added to which Harry downplaying interest in Defoe when a few months ago he was talking it up, with the high transfer fee always cited as the stumbling block (nothing in it for his parent club to loan out such an old player who becomes more of a declining asset every month).
If we are going down the loan route alone I don't blame the club with the fear of relegation and fines. But we are going to need quite a few loans - at least one striker, a winger and a defender at a minimum. Plus we already have the two Chileans on loan. Be a test of Harry's management skills to motivate so many loan players while keeping players happy who are fully owned by us but probably being kept out of the team by loans.
Thoughts?
