Harry will leave when he's ready.

Tony will get to April/May and sit down with Harry if we stay up and ask him if he wants to carry on. If Harry says yes and convinces Tony, which he will easily, Harry will get another year. Harry will leave when he tells Tony it's time to retire. That's the kind of man Tony is, he doesn't want to sack another manager unless it gets desperate.

Start of a legacy. A young, hungry manager that wants to win. Not an old multi millionaire dinosaur with nothing more to do in the game except pick up his gargantuan pay packet every week. 1 cup in 20 odd years in management says it all.

      Yep i've gone off him.

Redcrapp's previous two press confrences made comments about our away preformances.

        comments such as................

"we have tried every system" we will keep battling" "we need to find a way to pick up points away from home"

now these types of comments to me suggests that he has not got a farking clue what he needs to do away from home. 40 odd years in football and the man does not know how to farking get a result away from home.
maybe the cant needs to look at a few burnley videos of this season.

suprised no one has picked up on this.

I think Redknapp will probably retire at the end of this season when his contract expires regardless of where QPR finish in the league.

I doubt if Howe will replace him though, as I think Bournemouth will win promotion this season so he will surely want to stay there.

I do agree that Redknapp is old school and doesn't appear to be able to adapt his ways (unlike Allardyce).

His record of 1 FA Cup trophy, and a few promotions in all his years as a manager say a lot about his ability. Whilst not many managers seem to win trophies these days (apart from those at Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal, Man City and Liverpool) how many finals and top 5 finishes has Redknapp managed?

Had he been younger, I would still say he is good enough for a club like QPR (as long as they stay up), but at 67 I think this needs to be his last season with the club.

I agree, he hasn't done enough about getting any away points this season.

How about a fast 'in your face' closing down approach and getting the few players at QPR with a bit of pace to use this to their advantage even if it means a few long balls and just knocking the ball past the full back and chasing it (which might result in a few more free kicks).

A slow, sterile & defensive 4-5-1 formation is not going to win many away points, especially with such a dodgy defence.

The other advantage of bringing Eddie Howe in would be the fact he will know which players from lower leagues would be worth investing in.

This club needs a manager with new ideas to move forwards.

Beg to differ mate, didn't do to badly up there at all, and he resigned as his family couldn't settle up there. I think he is a fantastic manager that will have a bug future in the game.

You've either got it or you haven't. We do not know what was happening at Burnley behind the scenes so unfair to judge him.

Refreshing manager in my book. An honest man. Not an excuse maker.
I really doubt it was any more unstable than the situation at our club to be honest. There are plenty of young-ish managers in the game between 40-50 who have already managed in the PL before with reasonable success i.e. Di Matteo, Laudrup, Sherwood, Moyes etc. so I'm not entirely sure why everyone keeps banging on about this bloke. Let's see how he does with Bournemouth if they make it up first.

I think I heard the other day something about wanting to go back to that area to be nearer to his mother who was not too well.

Couldn't serve up worse football than we have witnessed in the last two years.

Ideal situation for me would be HR keeps us up comfortably, with good few games to spare which then means TF and even HR himself can draw up a list of replacements and go get the right man for us with the long term in mind, and let them bring in who they want behind the scenes, and a set transfer budget with no target other than consolidating our position in the prem and then a subsequent long term plan that will restructure the club from the bottom up. I'd even have Rodgers for this if he gets sacked from scousers.

I agree with many though Howe has something about him that makes me think he could be the man to build the future with

Thats exactly what im hoping for, harry keeping us up, leaving us with a nice steady squad and a new younger manager coming in and adding a few players of his choice ready for next season.

Thats how I look at it surrey!!..... I like the thought of a new young hungry manager who'll take the PL by storm but the reality is its to much of a risk IMO and we'd sort of just be part of an experiment. Personally I'd like a bit of reassurance by having a manager who knows and can handle the PL.- the money, transfers, constantly in the public eye, PL players, agents, fans, stadiums etc etc etc its a massive step. He might well handle it and good luck to him if he does but its a NO from me!!

Excellent post, and spot on. There is so much more to being a manager in the PL than the Football League. The near constant media scrutiny (even for a club our size), pressure after a few bad results / expectations from fans and owners, and the entrusting of tens of millions in the transfer market conspire to make it a huge step up. This isn't to say that Eddie Howe isn't capable of handling it - Like you though, I would prefer someone who has proven they can handle the off the field side of management in the PL.

Sounds like the OP's management recruitment policy is based on wishful thinking.
