that is beyond the point, my recommendation of him was that he knows how to do the simple passes well, something none of our current centre mids can do pass-wise
there's no point moving it two yards forward to a colleague surrounded by opposition players. Its the telling pass we lack. When Tom Carroll played we just hit about 20 passes somewhere between our 18 yard line and the centre circle, then back again. An improvement on yesterday, I grant you, but not sure its the future.
At first I didn't want Barton back at the club after the Man City debacle and the disrespect he showed the club and fans when he went to France but when he did come back he calmed down and put in some great performances but unfortunately he is going down that rocky road again and I can see before long the booing will start as it did on that low day against Liverpool at home and he will start getting aggressive and the red mist and cards will come back, it's time to drop him before it starts to cost us being down to 10men.
Didn't he provide a cross for Austin that Jedinak only just cleared over his own bar before him and didn't he set over a corner that Caulker had deflected off the line?
Oh, hold on we only remember the negatives.
For me he was 50/50 today.
Totally agree, he wasn't great today but we certainly miss him when he doesn't play, look how we got completely overrun in midfield by Arsenal the other day without him.
People moan about no creativity in the side but then slate someone for trying more expansive passing that doesn't always come off because it is more high risk.
It has worked before though as seem to remember him putting all the corners in for our goals against West Brom and he has a few assists with decent balls in for Austin in other games too.

Barton did not have a great game. Think he might still be recovering from injury. Remember he didn't play Boxing Day. However I do think that even if he isn't playing well he motivates the team.
I saw the game on tv and thought that the crowd was much quieter than previous home games. Even when we went down 2-0 against WBA the crowd was shouting out. I think the reason for our good home form has been the support of the fans. This seemed to be missing a bit.

It was a typical post Christmas crowd at Rangers, no atmosphere whatsoever, to match the lack of any football. It's the same every year and I always go to these games knowing that, but it doesn't stop me from going and having my own little sing song in the Loft
All players have dips in form. Barton has been pretty good for us this season so far, but Saturday was probably his worst game. The sensible thing to do would be to give him a rest. It was notable in our first premiership season under Hughes that Barton's performances dipped up to and including the Liverpool home game, where for the first 60 minutes we were woeful, continually giving away passes, with Barton the main culprit. After Hughes took him off at 62 minutes we looked like a different team and went on to score 3 goals to win the game.
However, we then got spanked away to Sunderland without Barton in the side, but beat Arsenal at home the following week with Barton back in the starting 11. Without Barton again (to avoid him picking up a suspension) we lost the next game away to Man Utd, but upon Barton's return, we spanked Swansea 3-0 at home, with Barton scoring the first goal and inspiring the win.
So for me, his general influence is far better than people make out, but he needs to be managed properly.
