rather wait til january now and go after someone like jackson or hooper...no good now as it would be just a loan of a player not playing for another 1st team.......teams are not going to loan out current strikers on form.

Pete is spot on at the moment, with Vine and Simpson playing well you won't get a decent striker in and say to him right just sit on the bench in case we stop scoring or Vine or Simpson get injured!

I also have to laugh at some people claiming to know Simpson is not a quality striker Matthew I agree with some things you say but as far as I know you don't get to a lot of games so have you even seen Simpson play? He's scored 3 so far and got some pretty decent reviews for his work rate! I'd like to know exactly how you have come to this conclusion which you seem to try and pass off as a fact!

Like Quaz said I'd rather wait 'til Jan and hopefully buy someone, then you have a proper player on a permanent deal and we have a chance to clear out people like Agyemang and Helguson. We will also be in a better position to se how well Simpson and Vine will be doing.

Also I would like to know who people think we can get in on loan at the moment?

Let's not forget we are potentially in the middle of a takeover of the club and even if Briatore is staying on transfers will not be at the top of his priority list right now with what he's got on! We do need a striker now is not the time...

And as a final point is Simpson had not been where he was and kicked that ball it wouldn't have hit the defender and gone in...

Any promotion winning team has at least four decent strikers. Plse cd you name me one team that has ever got promotion with as little up front as we have?
Spot on. Whilst I agreed with Pete's post about staying off Taarabt's back, I can't see why he persists in thinking we don't need a "proven" striker. Of our 5 goals yesterday, 3 can be put down to goalkeeping errors (Buz's first goal,Watson's - virtually an OG the way the goalie fumbled it like a wet bar of soap, and possibly Leg's goal).Either way our goals were scored by a defender,2 midfielders and a fortunate tap in by Simpson.I love Viney to bits, but his confidence is shot to pieces by his shocking injury and not playing in his favoured left wing position doesn't help.We still need (and not just for cover) a strong skilful and prolific lump up front to feed off the likes of Buz and Watson (who I thought was brilliant yesterday) and have the height and power to take advantage of Routledge's pin point crosses, most of which went to waste against Barnsley.Lets not get carried away with yesterday's result - but for their goalie the score could easily have been 2-2.WE STILL NEED ANOTHER STRIKER if we are to mount a sustained challenge for promotion.

I take it that Harewood started on Saturday then? Oh no I forgot, Newcastle signed him and he started on the bench. The bench for him with the possibility of coming on is far better than not even making it in the squad for Aston Villa. If he scores goals after coming off the bench he'll get the opportunity to start. With each goal he scores he'll get the opportunity to impress Martin O'Neill and other Premiership managers in need of a striker come January.

How many times this season has Wellbeck or Macheda appeared in the match day squad for Man United in the Premiership this season? Given the opportunity to first start on the bench and then come on is better for them than not appearing at all.

                Well said mate.

All players have to fight for and earn their place in any squad. It's life and the way it's done.

You can also add the example of Folan at Boro to back up your point. It makes me laugh when Pete and others write such drivel as 'you can't say to a striker come down and sit on the bench', of course not you tell them to come down and fight for a place!

And you shouldn't ever say "come and play for us as we can guarantee you a starting place week after week even if you are playing badly just because you play for a Premiership club".

if we got a decent striker he would be straight in the team as we need a striker who is going to score 1 in 2-3 games regularly;that is not simpson or vine

These are all good and indeed unanswerable points. Suspect Pete knows this really but doesn't want to give the true reason we have suddenly gone off bringing anyone in, which was alluded to in another post - with the off the pitch turmoil the board is simply not interested in signings or probably even in QPR itself at the moment.

A few posters tonight were saying Harewood is rubbish etc, then he comes off the bench and turns the game. its what we lack. a shame because just about everything else is great about the team right now.

a good team will always have a goal scoring striker who can come off the bench and change a game,we are lacking that.things are definetly looking better now than a few weeks ago,but we do lack a cutting edge, and desite Pete and others(not many mind you)saying "you cant bring in a striker to sit on the bench"(which is complete rubbish by the way),if we want to make that push forward,ie play offs or even automatic promotion,we WILL need to get in a quality forward.

There's only one person on this message board who disagrees with you as far as i know - and, in fairness to him, i think he's at the match.
