Do you think Ali sets the season ticket prices ? He is a marketing guy FFS.

If any of you have any marketing experience you will know that your job is made a lot easier as a result of the product you are marketing being successful.

If QPR do well, then season tickets sales go well regardless of the bloody price. Just look at the clowns that will jump on board in the coming months as they sense a period of success.

The club shop/merchandise side of our club has seen a massive turnaround and I would suggest that much of that is down to him.
The family offers that are run, the fun days we have had.

Some of you say C-club is a failure, however, I have no doubt that will come good as soon as we reach the Premiership.

As usual QPR fans want a scapegoat.

So tight to put their money into their pockets over the year, that the club used to run out of money every January, yet it was always the chairmans fault.

When things go badly at QPR, it is Briatore. When things go well it's AMit.

THe same people were about to call for Magiltons head a couple of weeks back. Now that we have had three decent performances since, they have changed thier tune once again.

Look Ali may be crap at his job, I do not know, however, it is quite clear that people attribute every negative thing at the club to him and Briatore when it is quite clearly unjust, if not thick, to do so.
utter balderdash from start to finish
what the hell was god thinking of when he thought of hamsters?

Actually although the first line is not that tactful, he makes IMHO some good points.

The pricing strategy at the club was without a shadow of a doubt introduced by Ali Russell as he introduced the same system at Hearts.

Now I'm more understanding than most when it comes to ST prices as I can appreciate the economics of the situation but your assessment of the clubs marketing is wrong.

The marketing of the product has been completely wrong from start to finish and is the single biggest cause of negativity surrounding the club. A highly respected poster on this board asked Mr Russell face to face why he intoduced the PRICING STRATEGY (yes that is to do with setting ST prices) as its moved supporters around the ground and killed the atmosphere and his reply was a shrug of the shoulders and 'we thought we'd give it a go' response.

You are wrong if you think Ali Russell doesn't have any input into setting prices, he is paid a 6 figure salary (which I have heard is in excess of £200k per annum) and he is expected to interface with other areas of the 'product'. He brought the concept to the table and he is part of a team which drew up the ticket pricing structure at the club using his idea. So whilst the final decision doesn't rest with him, he has a massive input and he is in a position to influence those making the final decisions as well. If it all goes to plan I'm sure Mr Russell will except the paludits so when it all goes wrong he should be made to be the scapegoat as well.

On top of this he has a been the associated with all the spin coming out of the club over the past 18 months. In all honesty I can't see anything good the man has done for the club and now its showing.

The club need to rethink his position as I consider him to be the face of the Public Realtions disaster that has been Queens Park Rangers since May 2008. As they say there is no smoke without fire.

The great marketing person who calls fans 'pr1cks' who disagree with him!

Look, everything he did wrong at hearts he is doing again here. The man is not commercially sound and will soon be out on his ear due to his failings.

If he would like me to explain to him how to use social media, how to actually engage with communities, how to actually target and prospect for business (rath than employing some twunt with a telesales company that worked with Reading FC to sporadically ping people e-mails) and the basics of P&L and ROI I would be happy too.

Id also add that brylcream is seriously out of fashion and that his greased back hairjob makes him look like as slimy as he probably is.

Interesting. Having never met you, I can now only presume that you yourself are a successful businessman, a marketing guru and someone who knows a hell of a lot about fashion. Your talents are clearly wasted here Scott.

The key point being that we used to run out of money every year.

Basic economics tell you that we were not paying enough, as spectators, to keep our club afloat in the championship.

The board were probably hopeful of doing well enough in season one to sustain a championship challenge so there were not too many complaints in paying the additional costs. All of a sudden we are not doing as well as we hoped and people all of a sudden have issue with costs afterall (which they didnt have when they thought we were going to win something). How strange.

Yes we pay a lot for our tickets, but we are one of the smallest clubs in our league. We need to pay a premium if we want to stay in the CHampionship and cannot always expect the money men to continuously bankroll us.

Having said that, we are currently eighth in the league with a game in hand, so whatever you feel for Ali, Briatore and co they have taken this club forward.

Some will say that we have frightened off certain fans for good. Make no mistake, those glory hunters will be back as soon as they are confident that we can sustain a title championship. I just hope that their seats have been taken when that day comes

All i will say is Ali Russell said to me why did I not come forward and explain that I was having a problem paying for a season ticket in years and that we would have done something for you.
Well he has and as a result I am guaranteed a bronze ticket, cheaper than season ticket I have paid for years.
The prices did go up too much for 2nd tier football but who was 100% responsible?
Was it Ali? I dont think it was solely him.

I think at least in this situation you have to say fair play to the guy he did a good thing regardless of what has gone on before!
