I said a few days ago in response to another thread about not selling him in January, that he should be offered a new deal.

He has maintained a goal every other game record at every professional level he has played at and QPR need to get him on a longer deal that is more closely reflected to his performances and gets them a better deal should they choose or need to cash in on Austin.

Hopefully he will sign a new deal, continue to improve and QPR stay up with him in the side for a few more seasons at least.
We needed to wait until Charlie had proven he can do it at the top level. He has done that now, so now is the time. There is huge incentive for him to sign now too, because he will get more money! No downside for Charlie.

You're missing my point. I'm not saying that he hasn't performed well last year or when at Burnley and so on and so forth. Every player has their ups and downs, their good games and bad games, even the best players can have a bad match. Charlie has done extremely well in the last few games and has been getting quite a bit of exposure (and rightly so). Long may it continue.

But it seems like the club is panicking a bit due to that. I just wish they done things a bit more calmly and in a cool and collected manner. Case in point, the Harry contract debacle, one minute he's got new contract, the other minute it has been withdrawn and is near the sack. Things like that don't help. It's only my opinion but can't help but think that the club in general is susceptible to being affected by what's in the press in decision making.

In any case I do think that he should get a new contract but don't think there's any need to rush. Anytime between now and Christmass would be good, imo.

Your point is well made but I don't think anybody is panicking with regard to Charlie. It is quite typical to re-sign players somewhere between 2 years and 18 months before their contract expires.

I agree with you about the HR contract situation but I think most would also agree that the initial noises about a new contract were very premature given how we were playing at the time. And a new contract would have been premature with Charlie before he started banging them in at this level.

I think Charlie will sign a new deal regardless of knowing if we are staying up or not...Charlie is better off staying with a club like QPR to progress that little bit further e.g. Playing for England.

Plus, I think the only sensible move for a player like Charlie would be a team like Everton, Spurs and possibly Liverpool with the way they are playing and lacking a striker who works hard. (Lambert on the bench surprises me)

Moving to a big club or another club similar to us who may fight relegation who would be pointless and heading to a big team would kill his chances of playing regular football.

Having said all that, the guy keeps on improving so who knows how far he will go.

I'm sure so many numbers will be circulated in the press over the coming months, most will be really high because the papers enjoy keeping up the QPR love splashing cash on wages trend.

I would say, Charlie will get around £45K on his next deal. Anything more than £50K would be nuts IMO..

But hey, how on earth do we even know what they are actually earning?
