  • QPR to offer Defoe a reported £80-£90k p.w.

QUEENS PARK RANGERS are keen on signing former Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe, and will offer him a deal in the region of £90,000-a week.

According to reports, Tony Fernandes has given the green-light for QPR to bid for the 32-year-old Beckton born forward, and save him from his Canadian misery.

Redknapp has signed Defoe on two separate occasions for both Spurs and Portsmouth with an approximate combined transfer value of £20m.

The veteran boss has made no secret of his desire to re-sign Defoe after admitting he failed to do so during the summer.

The salary quoted can be wrong. More bad press coming our way. The player is decent enough.

I would go as far as to say 'is wrong', not 'can be'.

I can't see us paying that much wages for him, his 32 FFS.

If that's true I'd lower the wage and give him a big goal bonus.

50k basic & 10-15K per goal, something along those lines and make each player work for it.

Arry's been chasing the same targets for the last 8years, why would he change now?

Sad thing is Defoe was never even that good, he wastes more than he scores and does NOTHIGN for the team. Would rather play Austin & Bobby than him.

I honestly thought Rio was gonna be a good signing on half that!

To say I have misgivings about this would be an understatement...

Bonus is the best way £50k a week with a £2/3m bonus if we stay up. We will get an extra £140m for staying up so its a no brainer
