Why do all the defenders give Borrowdale the ball when coming out of the defence?

a centre back has limited options, route one or to ben watson or rowly who will probably get caught out causing needless pressure. a wing back see;s the whole pitch creating different angles of attack. they can knock it one more out wide, inside to a centre midfielder, through to simpson or vine etc.
