  • The Standard has Been Set

Todays performance is exactly what we should be expecting regardless of the result. We have lost but not to many complaints on here as we could see plain as day that every single player put in the effort and played for the colours

We should accept nothing less then what we saw today and based on that effort we will win more games then we lose and their will be three worse teams then us.

If we are to stay up it will be based on our home form so we need to find ten wins from somewhere as that should see us ok.

But when you see a performance and effort like that today it does beg the questions where was that at United, Spurs and West Ham how can they pull that out today but be so lacklustre and uninterested in previous games?? poses more questions then answers

Agree ... we can't drop below that today.

Harry certainly sounds up for it, was happy he made those changes and although he was delighted with the effort from the team, some were in for a rollicking

Totally agree. You could add that to all our performances this season. Villa is huge not just for points but also to prove that today was not just a one off.

I agree, but performances don't keep you in the PL - points do. If we play like we did today and continue to shoot ourselves in the collective foot, then a standard of a very different sort has been set - that of a team destined for relegation. Purely out of interest, does anyone know why Redknapp waited until the 80th minute to bring on Vargas?

                Why today I wonder?

Why haven't we seen this level of commitment & effort in the previous 7 games?

Think today was the start of the change for two or three major reasons. Like ned and yun starting, both really confident and up for it players. Also, bobby one of the cleverest players of his type left in the game playing with charlie, oh and maybe even the keeper change could of installed some confidence as well. Lets hope thats just the start and it carries on, cos of it is the real standard we wont go down. also wish we had a player in midfield who scored instead of missing sitters, we would of walked that game though.

He is clearly at the very least our 2nd best (if not our best) striker. It stands to reason then that if you play 2 up front, Vargas must start.

Bobby played and Anton didn't. And Sandro, when fit, played well with Kelvin. Go back to playing Charlie by himself up front and it'll be s hit again.....

So, comes down to tactics and team selection. Remind me again who is responsible for that?

I think because most of the players who put a shift played yesterday (Yun, Onuoha and Zamora) as well as using players strengths in the right way especially Isla and Zamora.
