But he set up the first goal for Vargas. And he played well. So why should he be dropped just because Vargas came and scored twice (one of which was deflected)?

I like Vargas and think he should be a regular, but to say Austin should be dropped after a good performance just isn't fair.

Charlie played well for the two seconds he set up Vargas' goal.

Charlie and Bobby played really well together. Would stick with em and use Vargas from the bench as he is a live wire and works well against tired legs.
You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

                Charlie Austin the scapegoat

Getting quite annoyed at how he is somehow always made the scapegoat.

The latest is that Zamora and Vargas should start each game!

Well, I'll tell you what, Zamora played a blinder today, but there are very few central defences that would let him have the game he had today. To suggest Chaz should get dropped because Bobby had one good game is just crazy.

Not a scapegoat, just not as good as some think, his movement is poor and his work off the ball is weak, I love him to bits and will always get behind him, but watch Bobby it's not just this game he played well, wise head, him with Vargas get my vote.

I thought he was decent today and created an opportunity for himself

Now if we could find a system which incorporated Bobby Vargas and Austin then we would look very lively up top but exposed behind

Just not good enough for the Prem championship striker at best.

And would have no attacking option on the bench.

Vargas wasn't good enough last week. Let the knee-jerks have their 5 minutes and it'll calm down in a day or two.

But he seems to lack that extra yard of pace?? Or doesn´t he? I just Wonder.

Meh. If the ball would have fell right he'd - have a brace toady. For a start Glen Johnson should have been sent marching on his second attempt.

I think that part of his alleged problem is that him and Zamora are perhaps a little to alike in the way they play. Hence when Vargas, a small, nippy striker came on - it looked very good. That and he's spent the past year or so scratching his nuts up there on his own.

Give it a bit of time I say.
