For Sherwood read Pulis. I'd rather the latter, but he'd still be a perfect case of the obvious high-profile flavour of the month candidate.

Who is the best manager in the Dutch league right now, for instance? Or Scandinavia? Bundesliga? Or the Championship? If we don't know - why not? That should be Fernandes or Beard's job. It'd be Les' job now in theory, but I can't see him having the same sort of professional relationship with Harry that the various DoFs or equivalents at West Brom, Southampton and Swansea have with their managers. Those three all have replacement managers in mind in the same way clubs scout for players.

We pay more than anyone in those leagues I mentioned with the exception of Bayern and possibly Dortmund; we could take our pick of the managers there. But there is maybe 5% chance we wouldn't go for someone in the top two or three candidates in a snap Talksport "who should be QPR's next manager" poll.
I would agree with virtually all of that if we were wallowing in the luxury of the close season. As it is we are staring down the barrel. As we are, typically, about twice a season at Rangers. Of course Southampton/ Swansea are the model but we can't afford to be relegated with our expensive squad/ FFP/ ambitions of the owners so as normal with Rangers we are forced to think short rather than long term. Why not offer Pullis the same £1m survival bonus he got at Palace. Make it £2m if necessary - still going to be chicken feed compared to the financial meltdown of relegation. Then by all means review it at the end of the season. Just one final point: you seem to see Germany as the promised land for managers. So did Fulham...

The exact same arguments were trotted out this time two years ago. Go read the 'Harry is the Bosingwa of managers' thread I bumped a few weeks back to see a bunch of people saying what you've said, almost word for word, as reasons for appointing Redknapp rather than a left-field European or Championship manager.

The idea that only a rough and tumble hard as nails Englishman can turn around a team like this is nonsense. Pochettino didn't take long to do well at Southampton. Koeman after him arrived at a team that had just sold most of its best players.

I think Pulis at Palace was a bit different - there the team was full of players who were barely PL quality, and certainly weren't swanning around wishing they'd chosen West Ham instead. So his hardman backs against the wall routine worked. With us, when we so clearly have the playing ability to be comfortably clear of relegation... I doubt it's the correct approach. Certainly didn't work last time and frankly the players don't look any more motivated now than they did two years ago. We played far, far better football under Hughes than we are right now with Harry, just didn't get any results under Hughes.

It's a results business though. People seem to forget that Mark Hughes lost that last game of the season against Man City. The only reason the club stayed up was because Stoke got a result against Bolton on the same day.

Then we got the good old "The club will never be in this situation again with me as manager" line in his post match interview. How long did he last into the next season again?

When you think about it, we probably got worse when Hughes left haha

I meant under Hughes in 2012/13, before he got relegated. We were playing better football then than we are now. He lasted 12 games.

We haven't got results under Harry either though have we, aside from a few months at the start of last season with McLaren. If it's a results business then I don't why we'd a) keep him or b) need to replace him with some sort of experienced english type. It worked for Palace with Pulis, didn't work for us with Redknapp or Hughes.

We can't run a football club as it is, never mind with the additional pressure this kind of litigation brings.

And lest anyone forget, we are already in debt. We are not Man City, and £2m does count. This potential difficulty puts off potential managers and signings as it is - it's just another reminder of how chaotic things can be here. Pulis wont join another circus, that's why he's not high in the betting to replace Harry.

Even if he came, which I seriously doubt, I'm not sure he's the man for the root and branch rebuild that has been required since TF took office.
