The performance or lack of one against Spurs and Man Utd has got me thinking about Us and Rednapps mind set for the big games

For me the games against Arsenal, Spurs, Man City, Liverpool, Man Utd and Chelsea are free hits. Not many sides play them and win usually they get turned over as they go with the mind set of lets shut up shop and try and nick a draw with prob 90% of sides coming away having lost.

The above is the mind set that we have gone to Utd and Spurs with and we have on both occasions been put in our place. We have been reluctant to cut loose and attack but at the same time we seem content to stand off without putting pressure on the opposition and to me hope we can hold them at bay and get a draw.

Now I was always brought up to believe the best form of defence is to attack. I have no doubt had we been more forceful and played with more intent we may well have still lost both games but I don't think we would have a -8 goal difference from the two games. Currently against the big boys they have nothing to worry about when facing us as we don't attack so they can just have wave after wave of attacks until they break us down as we offer nothing going in the other direction.

This got me thinking of Rednapps time in charge and every big game against the top sides (Wembley and Chelsea away aside) or those were competing with away from home we go out with the mentality of not getting beat but end up getting beat because we play it safe; there are examples of this last season in Championship and in Harrys first time round in the prem with us

So for the remainder of the season lets attack the big boys!! better to go down fighting and having a go then rolling over and having our bellies tickled. I will applaud our players of regardless of the result if I sense they have given their all but Spurs and United I could not bring myself to clap at the end because for me those performances were just not acceptable
