  • Phillips and Hoilett let us down

Watched the game a number of times now and what we needed yesterday was to get at Manure. The players tasked to do this were Phillips and Hoilett but they both consistently kept giving the ball away or failed to beat their man. Fer was pretty poor too although Harry said after the match that he needs games and being taken away on international duty and hardly playing did not help. This don't necessary sit well with me as he played a couple of games for Norwich who being in the Championship started their season earlier.

I am sure I won't be popular for saying this but I don't blame Redknapps tactics for losing. You watch the start of the game and both Philips and Hoilett had opportunities but lost their individual battles thus giving possession away which allowed the Mancs to gain confidence and be more positive.

We need a reaction from the team Saturday and must get some form together at home to have any chance of staying in this division.

Phillips and Hoilett delivered very little last season in the Championship - they managed a handful of goals and assists between them - Traore and SWP were the same - So I dont expect many goals or assists from any of them this season because the EPL is far harder to play in - none of that is a surprise, it was clear at the end of last season - cant expect them to start scoring now - the surprise is that anybody is still trying to get goals out of them

Oh Jeeeeezzzusss Christ.. lets slate the whole team again shall we? Every fan.. Lets even start digging out bad performances from last season because everyone is so over emotional about yesterdays defeat... This is all achieving very little. United away is not the game we should be looking at points from. and slating the players so heavily over it is going to have a damning affect on them RE: confidence for Saturday.

Based upon what you are saying why are they playing then? I don't rate either as goal scorers but feel on their day they can beat their man and create chances, especially Hoilett. I still hold out hope that both of them will be useful assets for us this season.
WL is Rs - Relax! You'll give yourself a heart attack mate. I agree about not expecting anything from Utd but their performances were the key to what went wrong yesterday in my opinion. Not our negative set up etc etc

I just keep getting the same questions in my head when I look at rangers fans opinions on yesterday... what did you expect?

You can say effort etc etc. But I honestly think the fans slating the team were looking for a bl00dy result!!

No mate I honestly did not expect a result and with all the hype and new players it made Man U even more up for it. I'm with you in saying these games will not determine our season.

I think we will be ok this season. I know that Mutch, Fer and Caulker aren't getting great reviews at the moment but they were all top performers amongst their teams last season and with time will deliver for us too. We just need to give them some time.

I personally think it was HR's tactics again yesterday.. I like the look of our squad but if anyone should answer to the way we have played against the top sides its HR.
It seems to have been 1 step forward 2 steps back with HR.. every time we have a shocker of a performance, we end up winning the next game 1-0 and HR gets off the hook again. I don't think he is the future of our club.. I would look at him rather than the players on yesterdays performance

I think it is mostly about tactics. Manager looks at the players available and picks the team and sets up tactics most likely to control out opponents strenghts and attack their weaknesses.
In this match our managers plays with 4 at the back with neither fullback a fullback. Wingbacks would have been good in this match. Choosing to play Kranjcar instead og Henry is also strange.
Not a single person on this forum would have picked that team - not even if knowing who was available and who not

So weird as well because HR was interviewed before the game saying, we cant stand off them like spurs etc etc, we need to press.

All very odd, that the team did the opposite in the game when he said this to a camera pre match

agree about Hoilett and Phillips, united full backs won't have an easier afternoon this season
I must away now, I can no longer tarry
This morning's tempest I have to cross

I think that's the point though. We knew we had to press but United were just far too fluid and energetic for us to do so. Like you said, it's not going to determine our season.

Kinda contradicted yourself here. It's obvious what fans expect and you go on to answer that question.

We expect to get in the faces of the big teams , close them down quick and frustrate them not roll over and allow them to take the mick out of us.

Don't get how some say 'it was Man U what did you expect'.

For the second away game in a row we have been humiliated.

We are far far too easy to play against.
