Not a £50m striker or anyone here complaining about it. The replay from behind the player shows that his body was schewing left at contact and the only place the ball was going in was wide right to miss the players in front of him. He did well to direct goalwards at all.
So no one in the world would have scored that? Not Ronaldo, Ibra, Saurez? Come on look at it again. He had all day to even if off balance to drag it onto his left for and clipped in into an empty net. Even how he took it if he all he had to do was lift it. It was a poor effort at any standard imo.

To be honest not only was it a woeful miss, if he had any vision he would have seen Austin just to his left who would have a had a clear sight of goal seeing how Evans left him to defend the goal.

Not just his miss his general play even as a wide player is lacking, despite numerous fans on here quoting his ability I have yet to see it in any game with any level of consistency. As stated has all the attributes but doesn't appear to have either the application or knowledge to use them. Even did an air shot second half yesterday, sure that will be on soccer am!

Apologies, I thought you were being down on him for not scoring

Even last year I've always thought his ball control was terrible, struggles to run down the wing with the ball in a straight line. He's strong and quick though and once he improves his decision making he'll be a decent player for us this season imo.

Can i get a bet on anywhere that phillips or hoilett will never ever score another goal for this club? Cos i would honestly take it, i would even put niko in there as a treble. Thats our problem, nobody else seems to hardly ever score, not even joey. Would of stopped so much of this shite threads if someone had scored one or two against spurs or united, and we would even be a point better off if one of them chipped in with a goal against hull.

In that situation you only have a matter of seconds to make a decision he chose the wrong one, but that doesn't make him a bad player

Those split second decisions are exactly what separates the good players from the very average.

His miss was poor but one thing I would not accuse him of personally is hiding. Always wants the ball and when he gets it tends to take responsibility and run with it instead of giving it to someone else
