    Just wondering....
We were in the championship at the time.

Of course, it's much easier to pigeon-hole him as a mercenary.
we also need to think that Levy wouldn't let him go to another Enlish club and defo not QPR so leaving the whole country was the best bet shame it was canada but thats his choice i suppose

This. People were using almost exactly this behaviour *against* Diarra, M'Villa, Samba etc, but apparently when it's Defoe wanting a nice payday from his mate Arry it's all good. Defoe would be an extremely uninspiring signing.

Another harry out bit of disgusting old pals act behaviour. Blokes about fifty, cant score and we dont even need a striker. Disgusted. Totally disgusted.

I can see him having to take a pay-cut, Defoe and a younger striker in Jan is job done up top for me.
            Kept the faith!

It's hardly wanting a nice payday if you are already on £90k a week. No way we will pay him that. Wouldn't be my ideal signing either but would definitely improve the squad as it stands.

Anyone who'd turn their nose up at a seasoned prolific goalscorer at the top level needs to do two things.

Check our goals for tally (league & cup) & what our strikers department looks like currently.

                There's your answer.

Defoe was coming to QPR until Toronto blew the deal away with far higher wages and a longer contract FFS

A proven premier league scorer and still scoring on Toronto, I'd say that would be a very inspiring signing!!
