I hate anything packed out, trains, cinema etc, so why is football better rammed and squeezed next to people and queing for the pissers and beer?etc
Morning Kev, as a member of the collective known as 'the gang of four' I can only answer for myself but my main problem with a stadium over twice as big as the one we presently very rarely sell out is based on my experience of following QPR away for over 30 years.
Leeds, Bolton, Blackburn, Wigan are bigger clubs or had greater success than us in recent years & having watched football in these half empty soulless stadiums I can assure people the atmosphere is dead in them the majority of the time.

We are a small club & whilst I welcome the chance to grow, I very much doubt we will nearly triple the hardcore who turn up week in week out.

PS I was @ Leeds when they beat us in the FA Cup years ago & jumped the fences to storm the pitch, I can therefore there was plenty of atmosphere that day !

PPS I was @ the Etihad both times recently & even when they won the league & we were on the verge of relegation it took a matter of minutes to get a pint as it is so well designed.

Morning Lymes, I also think we can AVERAGE nearer to 30k if we can solidify our place in the promised land.

So 30k is plenty ( with a design that can be added to once we are in the Champions League ! ) because as we all know no-one is guaranteed a lifetime membership at the top table.

"Steve, do you think 25k is a good option when there are indications that within four years, new stadiums on average have increased attendances of 60%?
For us that would mean around 29k."

Stadium capacity has nothing to do with the QPR attendance anyway. They want to rival and exceed the O2 and to become the premier entertainment venue in London. Better capacity and better transport links etc and to fill their boots with millions of quid every year. That is their main interest, that is why they are here and that is why i dont believe they are focused 100% on the best interests of our football club.

Wembley a five minute walk down the road might have something to say about new queens park being the premier entertainment venue in london.

Well Tony and Phil are in agreement with you there NW - they've already said the design will be modular.

So I believe, as Richard said the other day the MK Dons stadium that has the ability to open different tiers is a brilliant design.
IMO there is nothing worse than watching football with empty seats & even rows all around you. Unless you are a fatty like me & Matty !

Wembley stadium was rebuilt as a multi-purpose stadium with a 90k capacity, yet it wasn't full for the England game the other night. It wasn't full for the last community shield game. It wasn't full for the league one and two play-off finals. I've seen two FA trophy finals there and the ground wasn't full on either occasion. I've seen every NFL game there and it's been pretty much full. I've seen U2 there, the same thing. Has the FA made a huge mistake building a 90k stadium when it doesn't sell out every football match? Football matches aren't the only revenue stream for the FA, and neither will it be for us.
People didnt vote for a stadium that can hold 35,000 though did they ? they voted for a stadium with a capacity of 35,000 , so its not half empty most of the time . I dont know any other way of putting this to you ,so you understand .
Wembley is a completely different subject to Rangers`s potential home ground and has no relevance on this debate at all

The trouble with the debate on the stadium size is that it keeps coming back again in new threads and everybody gets to repeat what they've already said multiple times before.

Why are we debating the stadium size in a thread titled "What name would you like for the new road our stadium will be on?".

For the record, I voted for 40K. The reason is that demand for Premier League football in London greatly exceeds the supply and for this reason, in the FUTURE, I think we could regularly fill a 40K stadium, just as Arsenal regularly fill a 60K stadium today and have a waiting list for season tickets. Of course I could be wrong but that is my opinion. If we build a smaller stadium we will have less revenue which will translate to a less competitive team.

Always enjoy a sausage. Size of platter has no relevance whatsoever.
