....If this is Borini's view we have done well to avoid him, very well.........

Quotes...THE REPORTS are as follows: QPR agreed a fee with Liverpool for Fabio Borini that is approximately ten million pounds. They offered him a salary in the vicinity of double his current money. This was rejected. Borini has said to QPR that it would take triple his money and, crucially, a clause which allows him to move for less than ten million pounds next summer for him to be interested in the move.
    .................................................. ...............................................
Borini is at a top seven club – he’s at a top three club – and if he moves from this top seven club then when does he next get his chance? Maybe never? Probably never. So why throw it away for Queens Park Rangers? And if he does choose to throw it away why not ensure that he gets weighed in for it? If you are going to sell out your dreams, how much do you sell them for?

I just don't think he really wanted to come to us. If we'd made him an offer he couldn't refuse (triple his salary and a get out clause) he would have come but with that frame of mind how reliable would he really have been? He could have just said no thanks of course but then it seems that Liverpool don't really want/need him so he needed to show some effort in finding another club so life doesn't get too difficult for him there.

Sounds like he really wants out of England and back home to Italy to me.

Ultimately though Dave, you're right, we did well to avoid him...

I would have offered him the same wage as Liverpool and not a penny more, I would have thought less wages with first team football would have been enough.

Greed... I think it's about time they introduce a wage cap to stop this getting out of control.

i doubt quite a bit of this article... and i especially doubt that we offered to double borini's current wages (supposedly £50k a week).

i love the statement "Let’s accept the reports because it is these reports which have led to Borini getting down the banks."

i haven't actually seen any reports that we offered borini £100k a week and that he demanded £150k. i saw some that said we offered about £58k (a bit more than at the mo) and he wanted £90k. perhaps they reckon he's only on £30k a week, because only qpr pay big money... oh dear, they've got a surprise comong their way ("In terms of usual conversations about footballers, there’s a complexity here, perhaps an uncomfortable one. Fabio Borini clearly isn’t motivated solely by money but from reports we can accept we can see he would allow himself to be consoled by it for twelve months." lmao)

only way clubs like us in our current circumstance will attract players from top clubs is by paying them a lot more - even if they aren't currently in the first team - but tripling of money is crazy. either he wanted to scupper the deal or he is greedy as hell, either way best avoided.

Well, the one thing that can be said in Borini's defence is that you can hardly blame him for taking us for mugs. We do have form.

Good to see that we finally seem to be "going straight".

I still can't believe we offered £10 million for Borini , he is worth half that!!!

He is nowehere near good enough to be offered wages of £90k or whatever it is.

He has been bombed out of a lot of clubs at a very young age. If he was good enough or made up for it with the correct attitude then this most probably wouldn't have happened.

I honestly don't think he would have made much difference to our season apart from having another striker which we need.

IMO would have just been an extra number rather than additional quality.

Everyone is insulting him but he is living his dreams. You can't blame a person for following their dream. If playing for Liverpool Reserves is what he has always dreamed off then who are we to judge!!!

He'll end up going to a big Italian club in the next 12 months, let's not act like his career's over.

Will probably be on lower wages over there than he would have got here, he obviously doesn't fancy slugging it out in the lower half of the Prem and I can't hold a grudge against him for that tbh.
