  • 352 is fine, depending on the opposition

I know a lot of people hate 352 (me being one of them), but it is a system that can work. Against Hull it was fine, a team with no pacey wingers - but deploying it against Spurs was one of the worst decisions I've seen for a long time. The flanks were left exposed, and with Lamela and Chadli having immense pace, this was not ideal!

I think the system can work, but you can't use it against every opposition - very naive of Harry.

Absolutely , was so surprised we went for that formation and even more surprised with the personal we played in it, top 7 clubs we have to go away and bore the pants off the game 4 and a 5 in front of them and take a few 0-0

Exactly. When we play top opposition we need to take take a page out of Big Sam's playbook and play "19th century" football.

It's a horrible thought but it's true! If we wanna stay in this league we're gonna have sacrifice pretty football (which we don't play anyway!) and stick 9 men behind the ball.

The idea was to help the wingbacks with one of the midfield three going wide when required and doubling up on their wingers. Or that's what I gathered from Harry's interview.

You need top draw wing backs and a nippy back 3. We have neither which is why the system is being questioned.

No it's not. Even if you can defend properly for 90m you still need quality out ball to take pressure off. Look at Southampton last year. They played some great football, there is another way. The game is always evolving, look at the USA at the world cup. I think younger managers are more switched on to tactical possibilities, you could tighten QPR up and get them playing football again. It is possible.

The idea we need to park the bus and play hoofball against decent sides is nonsense - look at the success Southampton, Swansea, West Brom and others have had in the past few years. We just need half decent coaching and management.

                .... is the right answer.

Well that was HR's ~60th game in charge. Pochettino's 2nd.

It's not like I'm being knee-jerk about this. I said we were poorly coached and set up throughout our relegation, last season, the summer, and now.

Just coa we are in the same division we are leagues apart. Townsend cant even get in that over a 100 million pound side. Poor finishing (as usual) made that scoreline look so bad, even they we were terrible. Bet the home game is nothing like that whatsoever, even though their team costs about ten times ours. Just cant stand this change the management after two games bull.

Do we know what the players feel about this system. I get the feeling (and tell me if I'm wrong) that JB is not very keen and since he is the captain, this could make it difficult. Also not sure about his relationship with Glen Hoddle.

Erm sorry? I hadn't mentioned Adel. I never suggested building a team around him. Jumping to conclusions is no substitute for sanity.

I think Pulis thinks that too and it is hard to argue against really. Hard work and boring football for a few seasons until the new ground is built and then look to push on and play better football.
It doesn't have to be long ball football but have a very strong work rate ethos.

Against strong sides we should field two defensive medfielders/ball winners: Barton and Faurlin.
