Think we can safely say that near on every user of this forum had the best day of their footballing life under good old uncle tone.(maybe the near to death ones who were at the league cup final saw better). And doubt very much that it will never ever be bettered or repeated in our lifetimes for any of us either.

    Tony Out!

Tony: Relegated with Hughesless signings although replaced Hughes with once odds on favourite England manger, promoted by not spending a fortune (in football world) on 1st attempt, signed very good signings so far, brought in Hoddle..... could probably add in there somewhere about Remy, possible new ground and possible new training ground....

for me his time here has been all about positives... there's been tough/hard lessons but all in all its been positive.... a success IMO is when we're an established premiership team. But so far so good!

What game bettered the play off final for you then mate?
I saw every one of them at home and quite a few away in those years, and cant ever ever remember feeling that elated and ecstatic as i did last may, and i am a lot more cynical and harder to please these days aswell.

That was a great day, not disputing it. Purely personally, think our fa cup run (esp quarter final against palace) followed by our promotion season in the early eighties were my best - prob because as a kid i was more wide eyed and enthusiastic about it. Oldham play off win also up there. Plus (apologies in advance) some of the buz and then adel moments of magic back in the champ. My top moments under tony prob the win at home to stoke when we looked down, the win at home to liverpool and that night at stamford bridge. But no right or wrong in this, just what meant most to each individual.

The 70's and 80's were the best for me and i am not near to death either Under Tony i think the wins against the scum and the Zamora goal are all that stand out over the 3 years. Even at Wembley we were second best and had a huge slice of luck that Zamora took really well. Like the team at the moment Tony's Chairmanship is a work in progress.

On come on. Following promotion Tango and Cash forced Amit out of the club and then refused to spend any money on any players in the close season. All they brought was Bothroyd and Dudley Campbell..... What inspired signings, eh? When TF came in he and Warnock managed to get Joey, but made bad buys in Anton and SWP.... All at inflated prices in the madness of the window closing. What choice did they have? We stayed up that season by the skin of our teeth largely because we had to rely on the same squad that got us up-plus some in- at inflated prices in the January window. This was all thanks to the Italians not putting up any cash in the summer.

Big fan of Tony but wouldnt say he is the best in the world, other football chairmen have achieved a lot more than him. The potential is there for him to be the best!!

I will reserve showering him with superlatives until I see us surviving in the PL and the new stadium construction commencing.
Where has Amit gone to and when? What did I miss?
