Can we not loan out one of Hill or Dunne, and bring in a defender on loan?

They should not be starting.

Giving Hill another year was always a pointless thing to do. He's not good enough for the prem, especially if playing 3 at the back. As for Dunne, he is good enough, knows the division inside out and is a canny defender make no mistake. I think with 3 at the back Harry wants experience at this level hence he'll play ahead of Onouha.

Dont think we will spend nearly that much. Fer 7/8m, prob the ex wba guy for v little or holtby on loan with a view to buy or (worse case scenario) niko on loan. Be amazed if we got de gurzman. Harry also said the 4th striker is "cover" so really cant see us spending big - maybe a young loan. Think the board more or less thought their business was done and harry has squeezed some extra out of them but not going to be another 20m imo.

Then again, it could be worth the gamble because the likes of Mutch and Caulker have a resale value, as would De Guzman and Fer.

True but its all money that has tb paid out now. Think tony is said tb worth 200m - a fortune to all of us (bar perhaps tw rangers) but doesnt go far if you are talking 35m a window, even if shared with the mittels. These are big sums and so far i dont think after 50/60 odd signings this board has turned a profit on a single deal. Will be wary imo for the same reason the palace chairman has said he would rather go down than go crazy.

I think Tony and his two mates were worth about £300m-£400m each and the Mittals loads more. Depends what they have arranged behind the scenes as to how much is spent.

As a financial project this is very front loaded as ultimately they will be hoping the new ground and associated ventures will be a success. Doesn't always work though. Word on the street is Brighton thought they would be making money by now and have near capacity every game but are still losing. Hence over last couple of seasons their main players have been sold and have been replaced with largely rubbish. That said our owners are considerably richer than theirs and being based in London arguably more potential!
