With regards to Long, i'm not advocating for one second he's worth that, but the point is, clubs are paying even more silly money now. Also, no selling clubs will benchmark against the likes of the Lambert deal, which on paper sounds cheap, they will compare against big deals of average or deemed worse players than their own they're selling.

Originally posted by Del View PostI agree and think Matt Philips is class and could well out perform Townsend too if he stays fit. Very good crosser, direct and powerful. Personally I'm not a huge fan of Townsend and he used to infuriate me when on loan as incredibly greedy and started shooting from anywhere. That said, he's had loads of positive media and press and his market value is what it is as a result.

Anyone think Harry will go in for him?
Taylor made for a 3-5-2 formation.Meet me by the railway tracks

Not sure our board would be parting with that much for anyone. I like Andros Townsend, he has heaps of potential but the transfer market has gone potty this window. Our best bet is to avoid players that clubs want to keep and find the ones that need to move (like Leroy Fer), that's where the bargains will be had at the moment!

North of £10m for a winger just isn't what we need right now - yes Townsend is a good (not as good as some think) player who will probably retain or increase in value over the next 5 years, so he could be seen as a safe investment...I would just prefer to see that money spent on a classy creative midfilder i.e. De Guzman. As some have mentioned, I think if given a run in the side Philips could be just as good as Townsend, for 1/3 of the price.

I wouldn't sign Townsend if we're building a team around 3-5-2. I'm not convinced he can play wingback, and if we change the formation, we've got Phillips. Our priorities are CM and CF.Supporting QPR isn't just about a football team. It's about roots and identity.
