Are we now going to stop making him the boo boy?

We did it with Cerny and Ramage, honestly can say yet another game, the kid did nothing wrong.

Any chance we can now stop it?

I dont think people are really booing him. He does his job well enough, but isnt really the step up that we need to go further.

What does a Left back actually do?

Unless you are Roberto Carlos in his prime, don't know what you expect a left back to do. You are there to be steady and play the ball out to your own players, which he does.

Pete, he's NOT the boo boy.

I have never used him as a scapegoat, just stated a FACT that he's too slow. As I said before, there is no doubt the lad can defend, but he gets roasted for pace in the wide areas which will cost us. It's very harsh on him as I like his defensive attributes, but the pace is a real worry. He's very much like Chris Barker was for us. Not at all a poor player, but can't get accross quick enough.

In fairness, there is a minority of posters who like to lay blame with him. I don't see anywhere near as much critticism towards him as we've had with players like Rehman, Rammage and Cerny at 1st.

Saying he's a 'boo boy' is a bit of an exaggeration.

agreed. I dont see anyone booing him, but i think if you pick weaknesses from the team, the left back position is one of them along with a striker. Borrowdale is ok, he does his job, but is not a step up in quality that will take us to the next stage. He looks a little slow, and sometimes unsure of what to do with the ball - but wouldnt say hes crap

Pete - he was hopeless. Never knew when to provide an outlet or overlap. His heading and positional ability are non existent and he has trouble finding his own man!

Another really poor performance by Borrowdale IMO. A very weak link in the team and certainly NOT an improvement on Delaney

Thought he was even worse than usual last night. A very poor Left back who can't/won't tackle or head, with dreadful distribution.

I thought he played well so another different game I saw.

That aside, he's not good enough to take us forward.

To help the left mid by making over lapping runs..
To deliver quality crosses when in position ..
To pass the ball with Quality..
To stop crosses coming in when defending and not get beaten by your man ( to often)..
To be in position when we lose the ball or make sure you have cover if your caught up field..

Heaton laid into him in the first half after he failed to get tight enough on Cole allowing him to get a cross in.......

He's far too slow for that.

We defintely need a decent LB.

Stop making stuff up Pete just to cause a stir and come across as Mr Positive 2009.
He hasn't been "booed". Not once.

He did ok last night, but I'd say we could do with at least an alternative at left back, because he isn't that good to be relied on as the only natural full back at the club.

His lack of pace, positioning and aggression are there for all to see, and we could do with someone better. That's all people are saying.
That doesn't make him a boo boy... unlike Mahon and De Carmine last season.

He played excellently last night. He passed superbly, wasn't beaten for pace and actually was only put in trouble a couple of times by my favourite player, Buzz, when he lost the ball and Borrowdale had overlapped.....

I sometimes really wonder what people see that polarises opinion so much. For me Borrowdale is the best left back we have had for a long time. His body language screams inferiority though because of what has happened at QPR, but I think we need to give him the credit he deserves.

WOW...I can't help but feel there is meant to be a bit of a comical exaggeration in this post?

I agree, the lad has received unfair critticism, but that's over the top...even for his dad to say.
