  • I don't like 3-5-2 and joey Barton set pieces is poor

Saw two teams playing really poor football and both teams was playing 3-5-2. I rather we stick at 4-4-2, i know we won't win every match playing 4-4-2 but stills 3-5-2 is overrated IMO.

As for joey Barton I like him as a player but he' not made for taking set pieces. Just hoping if harry is still looking to sign a new players he will find someone that can take a free kick.

3-5-2 seems to be the in thing but i am not a fan either. All about possesion and a slow build up. We hardly create with 4-4-2 let alone 3-5-2.

352 will work better when we get one creative central player and start isla

i thought we did quite well with 3-5-2.

we are defo missing that no:10 player though.

            not impressed with mutch.

Didn't mind the formation myself, I prefer 4-4-2 but I think we looked comfortable enough with the formation. Their goal was an individual error from Rio Ferdinand and I think we lacked ideas going forward. You're bang on about set pieces though, very poor today. We need to sign somebody who can knock in a better corner than Joey Barton!

Performance, bar the opening fifteen minutes of the second half, was very encouraging. Especially first half where we were in control of the game. Albeit against a bang average premiership side who will be in the relegation dogfight (which makes the result very depressing...). Back three very, very solid bar the goal. Only when they went three at the back second half and pushed Ince up front did we struggle for a bit. We created chances and, once Simpson was subbed, looked lively once more. Had we taken our chances we'd have won 2-1. Result bad, but performance positive. Barton's free kicks and corners weren't on the money. Charlie didn't measure up well against Jelevic (sp?). Remy proved he'll get goals b

what is the point of a 3 5 2 and why is everyone in prem utilizing it?

It was ok. Though we didn't do that bad with it. We had plenty of chances which on another day we'd have scored a few.

Because in theory it offers greater flexibility than 4-4-2. Your 3 at the back quickly becomes 5 without the ball which has led to one the big criticisms of the set up - it can become very defensive.

                        The alternative would be 4 - 2 - 3- 1, which becomes 4 - 3 - 3 in attack, 4- 5-1 when ball lost.

So you can keep 3 in midfield, whilst also playing 2 up top and retain some width.

4-4-2 has it's uses, but you get over run in midfield in the premier
