  • Shane Long £12mil

Transfer market had gone mad. Solid player but that amount no way

Who is paying that? Personally think that's a lot better value than £10m for Deeney. He may not have set the Prem alight but very good, battling all round centre forward for a lower half Prem club. Prob in a minority but I'd love him at the Rangers. All this talk of "right sorts" he always seems that with nobs on.

My best mate is a Hull season ticket holder, bless him, he said Jelavic wasn't even on bench the other day for them. So this would be a real surprise.

A guy who score 19 goals in 81 games for WBA and 4 goals in 15 for hull. Sorry £12 mill for someone who barely scores in prem league. I rather deeney who scores just as many goals as Charlie Austin in championship. Shocking what people on here look for in a striker. Shane long got most his goals with reading in championship coz that's the level he should b at. Proof is his goal ratio is worse than 1 goal in 4 games in prem. What I look for in a striker is someone who scores goals. Hope qpr feel the same

12m? Every time I see madness like this I remember Remy 8m
              Under Les Ferdinand:
Luke Freeman, top assists in the league: 4million
Alex Smithies, great goalie for this club: 3,5million
Charlie Austin, 19 Premier League goals: 4million
Jack Robinson: Contract ran out, left for free
              And many more mistakes

LES FERDINAND, IT'S TIME TO GO

1 in 4 goals in a struggling prem team is not bad. In case you hadnt noticed ALL Austin and Deeney goals have been in the champ. If you are expecting either to get much more than double figures in the prem fear you will be v disappointed...

I wouldn't say lambert was much better a player than austin when he left the championship and look at him now.

Plenty more examples the other way. V few champ players make it in the prem these days. Hope charlie bucks the trend but think fans who expect another 20 goal haul are heaping too much expectation on him.

Agree that Long is overpriced but the rest of that post is a major moment.

Shane Long tries hard but £12m is overpriced and his premier league goal ratio is nothing special
He's an ok player for half of that price

Moving on to Charlie, he'll find it tough and is dependent on decent service. If he plays a full season, I reckon he'll get 10-12 goals

Even if we can sort out a supply line - and that is still a major concern for me - we're one short up top. In other words, we need one attacking / creative midfield and one striker. If push came to shove, I reckon the supplier more important, since without that contribution Remy and Austin are going to be on very short rations.

So right now Shane Long at 12m is completely irrelevant. We have to find someone who can do a bit of unlocking for the smash n grab. If only Glenda was 25 years younger...

I always liked Shane Long and thought he was excellent for Reading in the Championship but he has struggled a bit with the step up to the PL and is definitely NOT a 12m forward. 4m would be nearer the mark.
