To be honest I've wondered why they haven't been linked for months given the fact they need a striker(s).

Our hands are tied if someone offers the amount in his release clause. That's the main reason we're trying to sign him to a new contract, without the clauses, so we can count on him and avoid surprises on transfer deadline day that really could send us up s**t creek, with no replacement in place. When and if we can make remy a new deal is when we can relax and tell other clubs to f**k off.

I doubt it is rubbish to be honest. Chelsea have been linked with Remy since his Marseille days, and everyone knows that at £8.5million he will be the bargain of the summer for anyone who signs him (although obviously no-one told Liverpool that.) Chelsea get 15 goals a season for peanuts, and Remy gets CL football. I just don't see where our goals are going to come from without Remy in the side.
