On ocassion last season we sat so far back & just invited the oppo to attack us. Don't think we can afford to do that in the prem. Sometimes, as the saying goes, it's better to die trying.

We now have a starting 11 that will give anyone a game. Redknapp proved last year that he can unite a dressing room and now with the help of the board he can build a decent team we can be proud of.

I think he will surprize a few is year, remember him with Spurs and they were very attack minded. Playing a tight defence is the only way to succeed in the PL. Others in the past like Ollies Blackpool were found out after 15 games and paid the consequences. I for one will be happy with grinding out results, a sneeky 1-0 or 2-1 will do very nicely this term. 20 points by Christmas has to be the target at least.
I blew a lot on vodka and tonic, gambling and fags. Looking back, I think I overdid it on the tonic. - The one and only Stanley Bowles

...cautiously optimistic about the coming season. Seems we are building from the back and that can only bode well imo.
...having said that, would still be happy with 17th come the end of season.

Ok away from home but against Leicester, Burnley, Villa etc at home, I think we need to put teams under pressure. Not saying go gung ho but we need to take the initiative & go for the 3 points & not sit back hoping for a lucky break ala certain times last season.

Didn't he get Spurs into the Champions league?

Finished 4th yea but the year Chelski won it and took their spot despite finishing 5th.

Tbh though Redknapp adopted a side there with Bale, Modric & van der Vaart in... Reckon I coulda steered em to top 4 that year

He got them into the Champions league 2 years before that when they also finished 4th. Then lost in the Quarter final to Madrid if I recall, when Crouch acted like an idiot and got two yellows in the Bernabau in the first 20 mins.

If we play the same standard of football we played last season this season and finished midd table would people complain???...... Despite how we played last season we got promoted on our first attempt so job done IMO!!....... Although this season with the new signings and team spirit being there from day one I think we'll play better as an overall unit.

he is miles more prem class than any realistic alternative

as for playing style it was horses for courses last year - one fit striker all year + no goals from midfield or the winger = grind out results or stay in the championship

that and the fact he had to give cpr to a dressing room as fractured as anyone had seen - so going the solid, three musketeers, band of brothers, good lads working hard route rebuilt the spirit of the club - so now there is a good dressing room for the new guys to join - massive progress on 12 months before

It's all about results for me, who cared how boring many of our matches were in The Championship when Bobby scored to dramatic winner in the 90th minute at Wembley?

i do , although i`m realistic enough to not expect all out attack at Chelsea / Man City etc Last season the quality of football was dire and left me wondering why i bother going.
I`m hoping the new signings ,and two upfront will change that ,for the matches against the " lesser " clubs at least. Still saying that ,i got my Spurs tickets the other day and i can`t wait .

Im with you Vespa - don't get me wrong fab day out at Wembley which will live in the memories forever and we got the job done but if I am paying £50 £60 a ticket and got served up the dross that we had to watch last season I think I might be a little bit miffed!! Football is entertainment as well!!!
