MOTM in the #10 role today....is he a viable option in that position, playing behind a front 2?

Having a good pre-season....3 goals in 3 games - all very well taken.

Played very very well today. I would try him in thw no 10 role from now on rather than on the wing

        Spot on stanley.

I said on another thread that I have given him alot of stick but I thought he looked so much more comfortable in that no 10 role and a real threat. He's not a accomplished winger imo, but running at people in that free role hes very dangerous and with two good cm behind him I think this could be a fantastic chance for him to reach his potential.

Fair play to the lad though, he seems to have knuckled down a bit and to his credit today I thought he even released the ball much better then I have seen him do in a long time. If he can keep this form up then Ill hold my hands up and say heshould start as cam.

His low centre of gravity and acceleration will suit playing just off the front 2. Think he looks much more assured in this position than on the wing

Agree Maids, I've always preferred Junior in a more central role.

He's not a natural winger at all because he always likes to cut in, instead of getting to the byline and crossing. This new role suits him far more, brings the best out of him and I think he'll score more from this position too.

Could he be the key to our lack of creativity in the centre?

Definitely. His technical dribbling skills are quality, but his end product on the wings is quite often frustrating. Looks much better in the no10 role.

Was only shamrock, but he's better in than hole than on the wing imo. Too predictable out wide.

He did well, it was against Shamrock rovers though… Premiership is a different game altogether. I don't know if he's got the creativity or skill to play through the middle, especially when he'll have much less time & space than today.

I'd keep him on the wing but tell him to cut inside, which he should be doing anyway tbh. Keep it on the floor rather than hit and hope

Could be Nick. Its really refreshing sometimes when a player surprises you just by a simple change of position. If he can take this type of form into the prem then why not. We all know his pace scares defenders to death and now with less responsibility he seems to be thriving.
Id be interested to see how phillips plays in that role too.

As I said on another thread, isn't this where he tended to play with Blackburn?

Think we'll try 5-3-1-1 this season with Harry's 3 CBs and 2 wing backs so Hoilett could sit in behind whichever striker is playing...??
2011-2013, 2 seasons in the Premiership, 76 games, 14 wins........two years of my life I'll never get back!!

2013/2014 mediocrity topped off with a win at Wembley....

2014/2015 was pretty much the same as 2011-2013.....

                            2015/2016, average at best.....

                            2016/2017, same old, same old....

                            2017/2018, aim low, avoid disappointment!

Its the hope that kills you!

Yeah hope so. To be honest before today he would've been on the same useless list as SWP and a priority to sell... but like you said its refreshing when something like this happens, be good to see him against tougher competition. I'd definitely keep playing him there as he's $hit and almost a liability on the wing.
