I don't care if a player beats the wall every time or forces the keeper into a save, that's accuracy, which isn't the intention. If Ronaldo just wanted to hit the target then I'm sure he'd just work on that. Ronaldo has scored 49 direct free kicks, not quite sure how that isn't good? He takes a lot granted, but anyone who scores 49 free kicks is doing something right!
I dread to think how many he takes to have scored that many though. I reckon his success rate must be low. He plays for a top side in such an unbalanced league it's a joke because the top sides beat the rest by 3,4,5 goals most weeks. They are so dominant in most games and get a tonne of FK's. I don't really care how many he's scored because its basically a hit and hope technique. I prefer the finesse of the likes of Messi, Becks, Zidane, Platini, Zico and the like when it comes to free kicks.....

Just my personal opinion.
Yeah I agree with the conversion rate but he's scored just below half of them at United. I know what you mean though but I guess times are changing and hitting the valve makes it a lot harder for goalkeepers. David Luiz takes a similar free kick and his conversion rate must be fairly decent. There is a lot more luck involved taking it this way though.

Luiz's rate is shocking. When the goal went in at the WC, I'm sure a commentator said he'd hit about 20 for Chelsea in the season and scored either 0 or 1..... Says it all really.
He had a period with us when 9 out of 10 corners weren't even clearing the first man. However, at Milan he would alternate with Kaka and 9 out of 10 would go in the area.
You have to realise, set pieces is something that can be worked on in training. Just because he was awful then doesn't mean he is awful now.

How could someone list supposedly great free-kick takers and not even mention the best one ever - Juninho.
