Yes I know they have learnt from their mistakes and concerns about the FFP but going into a season with one overweight striker, one striker who got a contract based on appreciation of a 89th minute goal as our strike force and a midfield of Barton, a midfielder who has suffered a double ACL and wingers that are either pony or don't last season mostly injured.

Please tell me where I am getting this wrong with 16 days until the start of the new season.

Can anyone say they are confident of us staying up with the squad we have or the squad we will have after the lady minute supermarket dash?

Any no I'm not trying to wind anyone up or $hit stir it's just I'm bricking it.
How can you seriously come out with that comment when we signed arguable the best striker in the division in Austin, arguably the best winger in Phillips, plus prem quality defenders in Simpson nod Dunne...???

As for the loans, who do you think wanted all Harry's old players like Niko, BAE, Carroll.... Perhaps it was Harry??? Also when he clearly wanted strikers in Jan, it was his choice to bring in loads of mainly useless loans like Keane, Maiga, Doyle and Benayoun..... All the ex prem loans would've demanded high wages, hence only loans.

He was backed better than any manager in the championship.

As for the current window, its similar most times n that there may be loads of agreements in principle, which are dependant on other things happening or clubs getting replacements etc. There's always a lull and then it goes crazy with the domino effect when things start to move. We're hardly the only team with little activity....

Del are you privy yo something none of us are? How do you know HR wanted just loans ?

I totally agree regards austin and Philips.. But in jan knowing we only realistically had one and a half strikers they didn't back him to get another...

I don't share you optimism with the state of the squad...

As regards you view of this window and agreements..hasn't stopped hull etc

Fell free to PM me but I have a fair bit of experience in transfer dealings and am not as naive as you might think...

Anyway each to their own... I'll panic and you'll sit back convinced it will all be alright on the night ... I'd rather be you

We have a ok squad atm - If we add 3 or 4 prem class player sin the next week or so we will have a decent first 11 and thats what counts right now. Come the end of the window we need more depth thats for sure.
At present harry would be mad to play 3 5 2 on the opening games of the season as we havent got the players but in all fairness if we went with 4 2 3 1 we could have a team something like this against hull and its not as bad as some might expect...

                green

                simpson caulker rio yun/traore

                barton fer/faurlin

                phillips remy hoilett

                Austin

That team could hold its own against Hull in my opinion. Its not perfect but thats not a team that will get smashed. Some experienced heads there, a bit of quality but also players who play for the shirt. Very different from last time we played in the prem.

Its not all doom and gloom. We know we need 3,4 or 5 new players but yes we might have a rocky start but if we get the business right then long term we should be safe.

Fingers crossed that this has been achieved and we can start recruiting, that's my take on it.

I'd put Remy on the wing, take Hoilett out and add Adel. That would not be the worst side in the world.

Not privy to anything mate, and I didn't say you were naive. Just saying it how I see it.

Ref the loans, I didn't say he only wanted loans, but he chose them. The likes of Krancjar, Benayoun and BAE must've been on huge wages meaning loans were the only option. As for Jan and strikers, I'm sure Harry wanted Defoe etc, but think logically from the boards perspective.... We'd slipped in the league and didn't look like automatic promotion, meaning playoff lottery at best. Do they invest a lot in a big transfer and required high wages to lure them, and risk having that liability going forward if we stayed in the championship....??? I don't blame them for going the loan route, but they still backed his choices.

On that, don't forget they backed him big the previous jan with Remy and Samba to keep us up and we went further backwards. I'm sure that influenced their decision also.

The windows always generally come to life late on with lots happening, hence Sky make a huge thing of "Deadline Day". Some clubs do business early but often pay over he odds to do so.

With regards to Hull, they had to do their business early as their season started tonight in the Europa league. To do so they have imo paid way over he odds for average players.

At the end of the day, a few weeks ago when we entered the 90th minute of he playoff final I didn't think we'd be in the prem or have already signed he likes of Rio and Caulker. We know we're in for more players so I'm quite content to wait and see what comes of the window and certainly not panicking as I'm sure we'll add 3 or 4 more yet, and if the signings so far are anything to go by, they'll probably be pretty decent too.....

Totally agree del my concern is how we bought late last time in the prem and the team were sinking before even near grlling which proved a viscious cycle.

I wouldn't have moaned if the bulb hadn't made such a big deal about getting business fine early which adds to my unease.

Regards peoples teams including Remy and adel... I think that us bouncing chickens as both are unlikely to be here at the beginning of the season.

I also agree with you to some degree re hull but £8 mil for Deeney? Seems like not all the lessons were learnt if we are prepared to pay such a fee for a player who has had one good season in the championship.

P.s sorry for edit - bloody ipad auto corrupt

                          Right on the money Del.

Harry may have not been given a blank cheque, thank heavens, but he has been very well supported.

Have to agree with the OP.

As it stands our squad has relegation written all over it.

We struggld to create chances last season and now have a weaker squad in a much harder division.

Home games against the likes of Hull and Sunderland are games teams like us need to be picking points up from but right now you would struggle to see where the goals would come from.

God help us if Barton or Austin picked up an injury before the start of the season.

At least we still have our integrity in-tacked this time around and aren't the laughing stock of the league. As long as we give 100% I don't care what happens.

I don't think our starting XI is too bad, there's two things that are a concern IMO. The first is we don't have strength in depth.

The second is, HR wants to go into the new season with a completely different system to the one the squad is built for. We could put out a reasonable team playing 4-4-2 or 4-2-3-1.

And one of the really frustrating things is we don't know where we stand with Remy Adel and Cesar. Three players who IMO could make a huge difference to our season.
Supporting QPR isn't just about a football team. It's about roots and identity.
