  • Last Nights Game

Just wanted to put my opinion across on positives and negatives from lasts nights game.

    Negatives:
Very laboured going forward, it looked to me like Southend had more players as we struggled to stating together 4 passes for most of the game.
Our number 14 (praying it wasn't Donaldson as have hopes for him) was just awful. Genuinely didn't put a foot right all game and had a shocker, their 10 (Barnard I think) gave him a torrid time)
1 up top doesn't work, any time our wing backs got into good position for a cross the box was empty, very frustrating.

    Positives:
Our number 12, I think Petrasso but probably wrong, looked very lively, good on the ball but ultimately very isolated but definitely looks a player to me
Our right wing back had a very good game and only just beats Phillips to MOM for me, endless running and pace to burn, just wish we picked him out a bit more because always made space for himself.
Philips looked fit and strong and would even say could play in the 10 role we are desperate for, very pacey and gave them some problems but again due to no support was often crowded out by 2 defenders at a time.
We didn't concede, always a positive and Murphy looked very comfortable in goal making 2 very good saves at least.
Last but not least my sister in law managed to get the QPR Official to retweet a pic of my nipper at his first game, whatever that means

Overall very boring game, and shame it wasn't the first team out but still some positives to take from it IMO

The rightback would've been Harriman. I rate him highly whenever I've seen him he's done fantastic. but he wont get a game whilst Harry is in charge.

    Lovejoy: "No?!"

You say that but HR gave him his debut at Anfield, and has signed him to another year, fingers crossed he gets some time this season.
      Kept the faith!

A shame that Harriman doesn´t get a look in. He played very well against Liverpool the last time we were in the prem.

...and that my friend, in a nutshell is exactly why it is totally pointless and a waste of time for anyone to over analyse and read too much into these pre season games. Thank you.

Harriman is surely more suited to the RWB role than Simpson?

Phillips is a class act and I think very underrated on this forum by many, which I kind of underastand if last year was the first real chance to see him.

Was very frustrating with his injuries but he was just starting to pick up then ruled out for the year but when fit hr's a prem league player all day in my eyes and almost like a new signing.

Guarantee that Harry will be in the press moaning if he has to play any of the EDS squad.

workmate went to the Exeter v. Swansea friendly Tuesday, was less than complimentary about Swansea, remarked how boring all that passing in their own half is. These games are really just to get players match fit, results and performances are secondary
I must away now, I can no longer tarry
This morning's tempest I have to cross

Didn't see last nights game I had much more important things to do.... firstly I painting a section of a wall and then I studied it very carefully while it dried.

I'm glad it was Harriman, he looked very good to me and I think with him and Simpson we don't need anyone else in that position. Would love to know who the 14 was though, it's bugging me

Harriman played last 30 vs Leyton Orient and my report from Tuesday's game praised him highly.
                          Better RWB than Simpson

I say obvious thing, but you will never know can your youngsters do it in the PL if you don't give them a chance. I will be very disappointed if Harriman and Petrasso don't get few games this season

I thought we moved the ball quite well last night in stages
Faurlin got game time under his belt , passed the ball well
i understand why Ferdinand wasn't there but i thought maybe Zamora would have got 45 and Taarabt possibly
agree re the number 12 he looked tidy , like the look of him and the other little lad number 16 was it?
i thought it was an ok game to watch although we were lacking in a attacking threat
Phillips needed that game he looked well short to me, couldn't get the ball out from under his feet , totally understandably after his long lay off but he needs more games
                              Keeper impressed to
and your right our right wing back ( think it was Harriman) looked to get forward all the time
think it was Donaldson who looked a bit shaky at the back , but he will improve with time im sure.
