See tweet just now from TF saying he's off to KL and has left all transfer business to Ruben to take care off so we will have someone else to blame for lack of activity now as we have dug out Beard and TF

How many other chairman do you see at any club let alone a premier one, continually tweeting about transfers it's very unprofessional. He seems to want to pander to the fans who to be honest are in most cases the least informed of all. We have a small squad so whilst others may not be signing loads they are already miles ahead of us, even Burnley and Leicester. We are also trying to play a new system which players need time to adjust too, so we need to give any new players time, we are 3 weeks away from our first game!

If he doesn't want to spend his money fair enough after all it's his to do as he wants but don't come out and keep saying lesson have been learned. The problem last time wasn't anything to do with numbers but the quality and type of players we brought in.

Hang on, you are telling him not to pander to the fans but in the next breath you are having a go at him for not having pandered to the fans by splashing the cash and having bought half a squad by last Tuesday! Its pretty obvious what's going on. Decent players are either holding out for better clubs or mega money - and if Fernandes gives in to crazy wage or transfer demands just to "get the deal done" in time for the start of the season, the same fans who are getting furious now will be the ones moaning in six months "why or why did tony give x thousand a week for y player? It just shows Tony doesn't know what he is doing" etc. Clearly agents are talking up our interest in various players and putting it around we are offering mental money, which is prob hindering our negotiations with genuine targets. He has a set budget so the more he wastes on one or two players the less money he will have for all the others.

Like Kevin I've been saying for a long time we need a really big injection of players because it is really threadbare (esp if we are looking to off-load Adel, Granero and others). But we shouldn't underestimate how hard it is for a club like ours to land decent players.

It`s not an easy job that Harry or TF have got to do.
I completely understand all comments on here and really see both sides.
The thing for me is we are 2 games into pre season and only 3 weeks away from KO.
What I saw yesterday (the game) was nothing short of shocking, I know it`s only a friendly and so on but IMO we have no chance of survival without some real transfer activity.
Don`t want to go on and on about what/who /how many we need, just want to say we need them quick IMO.
They will need time to "gel" and get used to the new system etc. so the quicker they come in the quicker that happens.
We don`t need to bring in "big names" for every transfer, just players that fit the bill.
I would be quite happy to see some Championship players signed, and signed with an eye on this season and future ones.
As said it`s no easy task but with all the players we have lost we should be looking at more than 2 CB`s signed by now.
Iv`e said for a long time that starting each season need ing to sign almost a comlete new team will never lead to sucess or even stability.

Would we have been better off spending another year in the Championship to rebuild? Possibly, but you have to grab every chance and now there is massive money for playing in the top flight. Just think we as fans should remain very realistic about our chances and if we do manage to get Fer, the French midfielder and a couple of strikers we could still be in with a chance - but if not its still one more year in the Prem and maybe the FOLLOWING season we can finally do it properly. Its how WBA did it.

agree with midge, i would much rather nick the best players from derby, norwich and wigan etc for the positions we badly need players in. Cant see how we cant do that to be honest, its always how it used to be. Clubs in the championship cant refuse good offers from prem clubs.

Good shout would like to see us take a look at McManaman and Maloney at Wigan both very busy and make things happen. not the big names we usually chase but players that would come in and add something

Gutted we didnt get bryson from derby as well. Shocker we couldnt persuade him to come for prem football, derby could be in the championship for the whole four years of his new contract.

4-2-3-1 is the best formation for this squad by far as we have the players to fit into the positions. With a 3-5-2 we'll get found out within the first 5 games and I worry one of those will be an absolute tonking, in my opinion.

Its the same thing every summer. Slow business at the start and then harry comes into his element on deadline day. Its not ideal but its usually what happens.

100% agree,
I completely understand that Champ football is different to Prem and you have to cut your cloth accordingly, meaning the last 3 seasons of Prem-Champ-Prem is difficult to say the least in terms of buying players.
But I think we need a nucleus of players who are good enough for the Prem and IF the worst was to happen and we do go down, are willing/able to stay with us and fight the year after.
I honestly think mostly Champ players (picked well) with the addition of a few experiance Prem players would be the way to do it this year.
Rio is a great signing in terms of everything he will bring so just another 1 or 2 of that type, ie. would love us to go for Osman from Everton, Cracking player always gives 100% and is exactly what we need.
The budget is a worry as we need so many new faces, 8M caulker, 10M ish on Deeney, and we`re at almost 20M on 2 players.

Totally agree mate...I just dont get why we are messing around with 3 5 2 - we havent got the players for it and at the moment and it seems to me that the 3 5 2 formation actually isolates the few certain players I think we have got that are good enough from playing.
4 2 3 1 offers us a decent balance of defence and attack with the right players and means we could use the best of last years first 11 and add 4 or 5 new ones to make a pretty strong team.
