Phillips on the left would be a waste.

Inverted wingers are fine in a 442/4231, where you share the flank with another player. The winger cuts in and the full back overlaps on the outside to exploit the space and maintain width.

In a 352 your wing-backs have to predominantly go round the outside or else you just risk congesting the middle and leaving a huge space down the outside.

The only way this could work is if we play more of a 343ish formation with two wide forwards maintaining the width and wing-backs who cut inside towards the goal (as Kyle Walker used to do when on loan, with Routledge/Mackie staying wide ahead of him).

This is actually the setup Chile use, see eg: http://www.zonalmarking.net/2010/06/...-2010-tactics/ so Isla would be very capable of this sort of move. But again, we don't have Alexis equivalents, and it would still be a waste of Matt Phillips.

I wouldn't play either of these as wing backs because as much as we want to play attacking football all the time we still need to defend and Traore and Simpson/Isla are better at that. It is a new system and will take some time to adjust to and I agree Simpson didn't have his best game either defensively or attacking wise but I thought Traore did ok.

Dunne did quite well I thought, I could be wrong but it's possible Dunne/Ned will be rotated depending on the attackers we are facing. Hull are physical so Dunne played but against quicker players Ned may get the nod.

Yun is the one to bring on. He's going to have a decent career.

Give the team a few games and they will gel and play better. I'd stick with the same team selection a few more games before rotating 1 or 2.

I do hope that remark was made tongue in cheek, yeh i can see Adel running back to help the defence when he'd lost it or gave it away

Adel is such a footballing God he would never have to track back as he would automatically somehow have the ball, would never give it away and could probably spend 90 minutes doing step overs to pass the time. Has his transfer to Barcelona gone through yet?

Dunno, but I've just been watching him dismember serie A defences. Just to remind me of what we could be enjoying. If he got his act together and played like that for us you'd all be adoring him again, just like so many of you hated Joey a while ago, just like so many of you trusted Hughes......

Football fans and short memories.... LINKY

Just a shame 'he' chooses not to get his act together after every single chance he gets.... as for Joey, well if only Adel was like him hey? Being able to put his past behaviour behind him and being a true 'professional'.
