Like I have said previously team spirit and work rate and keeping the promoted side together are worth a lot these days
No, what happened last time was signing absolute mercenaries!

You can have team spirit and work rate all you like but you need numbers! I'm not saying go out and spend 60 million.

No 1st season up we signed too many players fracturing the dressing room spirit and the team only got better when the promotion team played again i.e Derry, Mackie , Taarabt etc

We have a massive squad as it is 3/4 of quality and then leave it as it is

PB just filmed shaking caulker's hand as he leaves LR

I think we can finally assume he has signed

And we can't afford to pay top dollar wages to 30/35 players when only 25 of them can kick a ball in the Prem for us !

Can see us abusing the loan market to make up squad numbers for injuries/suspensions

A massive squad? Erm.....this is our contracted players that have gone on tour and are likely to play a part next season.

Green, Murphy, Rio, Hill, Traore, Faurlin, Simpson, Onuoha, Dunne, Barton, Hoilett, Phillips, SWP, Henry, Granero, Austin and Zamora.

Include Caulker and Yun and we have 19 players. Yun, SWP, Henry and Zamora couldn't get a kick last season for whatever reason, so I highly doubt, especially the last 3 will be involved on matchday very often, Granero may not be here. Hoilett and Traore are made of glass, plus Faurlin, Granero and Phillips all coming back from long term injury. Joey will miss at least 3 games through suspension, probably closer to 6 and Charlie has a history of missing 3 months of a season each campaign.

In my opinion we need at least two strikers, a 'number 10', a couple of wingers, a right back/wing back and strong defensive midfielder. I'd be looking to get rid of SWP and Henry on a permanent basis.

As long as we sign the right type then the core of our squad remains. For example:

Stikers could be Sigthorsson and Kane.
Number 10 could be Van Der Vaart
Wingers could be Bamford and Redmond
                Defensive midfielder could be Fer.

None of the above will break the bank, Bamford and Kane on loan. Sigthorsson, Redmond and Fer all young and hungry and would leave our first team very competitive but more importantly our squad able to cope with the injury crisis that we always seem to have.
