  • One extreme to another

Does anyone else think that the clubs attitude towards signing players has gone from one extreme to another - there is almost a smugness in us now in terms of we will not sign anyone unless they love qpr, are the right sort, etc etc

Whilst I hated the way we piled any player in when we were last in the premiership - we need to hurry up or I fear a repeat of Swansea and Bolton when we play hull

The caulker situation is beyond a joke now and I just wonder with lovren Liverpool bound whether he will end up at Southampton

I genuinely thought we would have 2 more in ahead of this tour

Come on rangers - sort it out

Mem stop flapping for f$%ks sake. How many threads do you need to start that are all pretty much the same...???

We will sign players so chill out. I'd rather they get them in if it suits us and aren't bending over and getting shafted like we have in the past. We need to make agents and clubs know we have changed our ways and wont be making similare mistakes, and this is the way to do it and will give us more credibility long term.

I get that but caulker for example should be signed by now or we move on

We have around 14 players going on tour

      Players need time to gel

I stand by my post - its not 'flapping' it's an opinion

We need some players in and quick!

Completely agree with the second part.

This is a QPR fans forum and Mem & anyone else should be encouraged to post whatever they feel whether others agree or not.

        That's all.

If the club is overly concerned I think we as fans need to shoulder large proportion of the blame. We have moaned at TF and Board on twitter on messageboards in person at fans forums etc

It appears there has been a change in attitude from the club which is correct but I also think as fans we need to let them get on and trust them to make the right decisions i.e there were two of three Rio threads 15+ pages long debating if he was a good signing or bad one I have no doubt the club monitor what views are and worry about fallout

I think the club (and some will not like this) should say now f uck the fans were going to do what we think is right for the club and pay no attention to the whingers on twitter (there are 3 or 4 who comment on everything and seem to consider themsleves super fans and the voice of the majority I think their proper bellends) and the forums and if we want to sign a 36 year old because we think he will benefit the club then we will equally if we want to sign a load of 18year old we will.

Agree with this and Del we as a club in the transfer market are in a period of transition from flash harrys you name it we'll pay it to this is whats on offer take it or leave it. Next few windows will be very tough in my view until agents and players get this

We as fans have become spoilt last few seasons

I have no objection to people posting whatever they want, obviously, but my point was it doesn't need repeating and rehashing in the form of a new thread every day or so.... The club have a plan of action so lets just go with it. They clearly have irons in the fire and generally seem to be good targets, wo why panic? I'd be far more concerned if we'd heard nothing.

It's not as if every other team is signing endless players is it......

Players will come in.. I think the club are doing the right thing this time in building a TEAM as opposed to individual talents

Collison and oneal not contracted to the club . They are basically going as trialists . There are also players in the who haven't even got regular championship experience so all depends how you look at the list

A large chunk of those going will not get anywhere near 1st team action

Harry's the one that goes on about 14 players!!

Fact is nobody knows whats going on behind the scenes, even with caulker. Every ones just presumed he's stringing us along but we don't know the situation. I just think the club are in hard position atm. The reputation of we pay over the odds is hard to shake and players who thought they could come to us on 50,60 or 70 k contracts are probably shocked to be only offered the going rate. We certainly seem more prudent and with a plan in place. I also think people really underestimate the fact like any business, that multi million pund deals are not as simple as they happen to be on football manager.
Tf has also put out to the press this morning about agents only getting 5 % of any deal or they can do one, so tome it seems there probaly is a lot of people still trying to take the p*** with QPR.
I also dont think we as a club are saying you can only play if you love QPR but they certainly seem to be looking for players with the desire to play football and have pride in their work and thats brilliant.

i'm not so sure that 'loving the club' is really the problem...

we need to face facts... the club now has a reputation around football - qpr will pay high wages, higher wages than similar sized clubs. when agents are negotiating with a club, they're going to want to get the best deal for their clients - inevitably, agents will put it about in the press that we are interested in players that we're not actually interested in (so that other clubs need to offer a slightly better deal than they otherwise would have done). also agents will inevitably make ridiculous wage demands when they re negotiating with us.

in the short/medium term, as long as we are trying to bring the wage bill under control, we will struggle to sign players. if we hold our nerve, then over time (a couple of transfer windows) agents will stop using us as either a money pot or a way to get a better deal elsewhere. we as fans need to accept that for the moment.
