The bloke is sitting on millions & millions of pounds, will ever need to work a day again in his life, he can go elsewhere, get say half his current money (let's get this straight, we would still be talking about £25 or £30 THOUSAND POUNDS PER WEEK!) and actually play some football. Instead he os happy to sit on his ar$e. No sympathy from me (not that he gives a fark I'm sure ).
You could also argue that about any squad player who isn't in the first team. Perspective is needed, but people choose to slate the likes of SWP and ignore others who are effectively no different. There'll be nobody in our squad who's not on a ridiculous salary compared to Joe Public yet most of them get no grief. At the end of a day, we need a squad of players, the majority of which will hardly play.

this is also very true but some players obviously came here for the greens and some have come to try and progress their career and genuinely help the club go forwards
SWP obviously is in the former.

I don't disagree Del, but this thread is about SWP and it seems there is a similar one started on a weekly basis.

Spot on Matty! This was my exact point in my original post. The guys a 'professional footballer' who's completely and utterly loaded compared to the average person. There's absolutely no way he can be compared to us... Being the 'professional footballer' that he is you would of thought he'd want to work (play football) for his money. IMO he should be doing all he can to play and if that means pushing for a loan then that's what he should be doing.... Just my opinion!!!!

Devil's advocate... Fans favourite Clint Hill. Just signed a nice new deal for another year when he's unlikely to play baring injury, or at least certainly shouldn't be as isn't good enough for the prem. He knows this...... so should he have not signed and gone somewhere in the lower leagues with a lower offer to play football??

As for SWP, he hasn't done that bad under Harry at all and there have been times he should've at least been on the bench instead of other options, but he's not been for whatever reason. Instead we were loaded up with loan players like Keane, Maiga and Benayoun ffs.

Also, for anyone who actually stands by their comments that he is as bad as suggested, why are you then so convinced there are so many options for him elsewhere? If he's as bad as some make out, nobody would touch him, even on £25-30k / week.

You can't have it both ways.

The main thing that has annoyed me about SWP is how little we have used him. His end product does let him down but he is a pacy, tricky little farker. At times last season we were decimated by injury, creating very little and he barely got on the bench. We were screaming for an outlet. For me he should have been in and around the first team last season. Had he been my view is that we would have got more points on the table and been challenging more for automatic. I appreciate this may be a minority view but most Championship full backs would have struggled against him.

I can only assume he either fell out with 'Arrold or had a hefty appearance fee in his contract or some other contractual term.

Will Keane made the team a bunch and didn't we play Traore at right wing at one point? Falling out with 'arry sounds plausible.

Very good post Del, that's exactly how I see it.

Im sure there are people on here bemoaning SWP for playing badly, yet used to ar5e kiss Mackie religiously becasue he ran a lot, and chose to completely ignore the fact he was pony and missed so many sitters in his last season it was beyond embarrassing. When he wasnt missing sitters he would be trying to beat too many players, and lose the ball normally by just running into people or off the field.

SWP doesnt make a fuss or casue any embarrasment for the club he just trains and makes himself available for selection. It's not his fault he was initially given the contract, and isnt being picked, so suggest some people get a reality check as many might consider this how a proper professional should behave.

Agreed, people like to witchhunt him but he's not a bad egg. However he's clearly happy to take a handsome living off us and not play football or even go on loan to another London club to get playing time.

Difference with Clint is he knows he's going to at least play a part, even if its a small part he'll make some sort of impact. Also there's the coaching side of things. I'd imagine that's also played a big part for Clint signing a new contract. He's said he wants to get into coaching and I think he'll want to be a part of qpr..... as for SWP, I can't really see that happening. I'd imagine he'll see out his easy life contract and disappear (just wish he'd disappear now)

Also be interesting to know how hard he's tried to push for a loan move away??... IMO not very hard at all.
