As long as we dont sign crouch i will be more reassured that Redknapp actually has some sort of plan. If he gets Crouch i will be seriously gutted. He's been useless for years now and would expect big wages. Add to that he would lead to a rubbish style of play.

Agree, and we already have Bobby who can do the job as target man if we need to change style during the game.

Hooper or Kane I reckon. Wouldnt mind seeing us get Patrick Bamford on loan though.

As long as it isnt Will Keane I dont really care.

Reckon its deeney. Good value for money at around 6 mill, quick and strong and been scoring goals for fun for 2 years now. Would be a excellent signing. To go out and buy a proven prem striker will cost to much imo. We will get better value for money from the championship and tbf most of us have been sayong on here lets buy the best from the league below and hipe they make the step up. This is what we should of been doing and I think we really are learning our lessons.

Its a fair point, I just wonder if he is good enough (wd be v v happy to be proved wrong and will be the first to hold my hand up). McCormack and Rhodes have looked pretty lethal for a long while. Deeney has had two good years after not a great start (admittedly he was apparently played out of position as a winger in his earlier career). Austin is also completely unproven at Prem level. I just fear we are putting all our hopes on two unproven players in Prem terms and if they don't hit the ground running the pressure will start to mount. No prob if we also bring in a more experienced striker on top.

I know what you mean mate but who in the prem can we realistically afford or would be available. Experienced english strikers are hard to come by at decent prices unless we are looking at the likes of crouch.
Deeney to me has shown he knows how to score and it's players like this we should be taking a punt on. At least we know they will want it and jump at the opportunity. We are not a established force in the prem yet and if we are being more prudent we should follow what most promoted clubs have done and buy sensibly from the league below. Hand pick top talents.
Thing with rhodes and mccormack though is they have gone for 11 mill or want a similar figure when you can get deeny for 6 mill and there really isnt to much between the 3.

He didnt get on with Bent at Spurs so wont be him..... Knowing our luck it'll be Teddy Sheringham who he had at Pompey, great lad, good sort etc and still got some gas in the tank.

Depends, if he thinks Bent can do a job and his at the right price/ Wages I'm sure he wouldn't let something that happened in the past stop him from signing him
