The worry for me is that Redknapp has got his heart set on Ferdinand and Caulker playing 38 games next season, which would be extremely harsh to Nedum Onuoha, who in my opinion has displayed enough ability and desire to warrant starting against Hull.
I have to agree but I don't think it will turn out that way. I don't think Rio is up to playing 38 games so using a bit of squad rotation in the back four will likely be the order of the day. Nedum is the future but for next season we need to just stay up! Anyway, Caulker not signed yet but if he does that gives us a bit of much needed depth.

    • People doubting the quality of Rio signing.

Do you think England would have performed better in the world cup with Rio in the side?

At nearly 28, Nedum shouldn't really be concerned our future - he is our present. Obviously you can never have too many good players, and in terms of a steadying influence with vast experience we couldn't have hoped to make a better signing than Ferdinand, but Redknapp seems to be intimating that our main sweetener in persuading Caulker to join is to get him to play alongside Ferdinand - Caulker would start every week, so I can only assume that (injury permitting) Redknapp has the same intention with Ferdinand.......

I guess it's a nice problem to have, just would like to see Nedum get a fair crack of the whip this season - he's definitely earnt it.

Straight off wiki his appearances over the last 6 years. Bare in mind last year it wasn't down to injury too but moyes. Averaged 31 games a season over that time. Thought would help prove your point mate.
You want to have a word with SSN. They've just said Rio's average appearances over the last six seasons is 20.3 games.
Supporting QPR isn't just about a football team. It's about roots and identity.

That was premier league games only. Utd played loads of Champions league amongst others and he always played those games so often left out of perceived easier prem matches before them, like others were.

                    • Absolute class signing, secured on a good deal for the club, Proffesional, experienced one of the best defender the prem has seen and still it great condition and seems to have the hunger and drive for to succeed.
We are very lucky has helped pull this off and now seems this deal allows us to secure the signing of caulker who imo is a future england international. Just all round a fantastic day and signing for the club.
Anyone who under estimates this deal and rio qualities needs to take a good long look at themselves.

                      • Harry said on talk sport that he called ryan giggs to speak to him about rio and apparently giggs said if he had got the job rio would be his first choice cb at Manu next year. Make of that what you want but I think that speaks volumes.

                          • I was doubtful that this deal could come through. Great signing.

Rio was Man Utd's 5th fittest player at the club last season.

He was fully fit 95% of the entire season.

                              Source: Man Utd's official stats.

Ryan Giggs told Harry that if he had still been manager Rio would have been his 1st choice CB.

But I suppose even the above wont satisfy you.
