  • Zamora signs 1 Year Deal

Bobby Zamora is set to sign a new one-year deal at QPR. His current Loftus Road contract expired last month. Zamora held further talks at Rangers’ Harlington training base in an attempt to try and thrash out his future. Those discussions were positive and the 33-year-old is expected to put pen to paper later this week.

Millwall had been hoping to take Zamora to the Den but Ian Holloway has admitted defeat in his attempts to sign the forward...

I thought there was no sentiment in football? Poor business by the club to be honest. Even at 15k a week as reported last week. I'd guess we're really struggling in the transfer market for a forward!

probably be on the bench most weeks and make a few cameo appearances and nick the odd goal - don't realistically expect more from him

don't think he'll start many games unless we have no choice

personally, I'd rather have someone who can start and can play for 90 mins

We only have two strikers - Remy and Austin, and most likely Remy will leave us soon. We definitely need five strikers in our 25 man squad and it will be mission impossible to sign four better strikers than Bobby. So I'm very glad if we keep Bobby, he can do a decent 20 minutes per game.

I thin our squad split will be 3 keepers 9 defenders 9 midfielders and 4 strikers. I doubt we'll go with 5 strikers and less defenders or midfielders, especially as 3 of our CBs are likely to be in their mid 30s, and we don't know if Ale can do the business.

I agree, esp as we normally only play 1 up top.

Zamora would be an excellent squad player, I'd be happy if he stayed another season.

If he's fit then he has shown he can be a very good impact sub for the last 30mins no brainer in my book. The problem is fitness as other then the last 3months of last season he has not been fit since being with us

We might end up with Remy Charlie BZ and the Icelandic lad as our four strikers. Not too shabby.

You may be right. But as both Yun and Traore are defenders, who can play midfield, I think we could do with 8 midfielders.

Maybe I'm too cautious, but I'd go with 9 for midfield.

Now I'm not fan of Zamora but I'll admit coming off the bench he could be worth 5-8 pts this season which could prove massive.

He knows his place and that in a close game he'll be thrown on to change the course of the game. It's a lot easier to physically prepare Zamora for 20 odd minutes each week over the full 90.

So, Bobby has finally found out what he is worth in the open market. And, finally, has discovered that he can't get four times that amount by signing for QPR!

I'll be happy if we sign him, based on the assumption that he is finally fully fit and will be the "playoffs" Bobby this season. He isn't over the hill yet and has a ton of Premier League experience. Even if he is past playing the full 90 mins, he should still be capable of really helping us. If we manage to keep Remy too, things up front are looking not too bad.
