Again, another player, like Vidic, who is a couple of years younger and has probably a bit more in the tank, however, although he's a good player, I dislike him and his attitude intensely, so I wouldn't be in favour.

How would you feel about signing John Terry? A highly decorated CB and former England captain, similar to Rio in many respects?
Supporting QPR isn't just about a football team. It's about roots and identity.

Cant sign and not sign players based on if you like them or not I am asking purely on would you sign him if he was on a free

On Cole I don't think you can question his attitude on the pitch, off it he appears to make loads of poor choices, but on it for me still up there with the top left backs in the world

Would not be over the moon signing Terry simply because of my views and dislike for him but taking personal agenda's aside and basing it purely on his football ability would he be better at CB then Dunne or Hill then the answer if Yes he would so although against such a signing I could understand it from a footballing point of view as hes an improvement on what we currently have

But you bringing up Terrys name raises a superb point which relates to your disapproval of Rio and him missing games. Season 12/13 he only played 27 games (similar amount to Rio) based on the fact he was allegedly injured and unable to play two games in a week, if Rafa was to be believed, Jose returns season 13/14 and the man that could not play two games a week under the previous manager turns out 47 times!!!!! (an extra 20 games) just like Rio his face never fitted with the manager and he was bombed because of it.

I wonder how we would have viewed Ashley's career, had Arsenal just given him the extra £5k pw all those years ago.

Top point Brighton I think vast majority of dislike towards him goes back to him haggling over 5k and did he not refer to himself being treated like a slave which put the working mans nose right out of joint and rightly so

Oh dear QPR richard - if you would have a problem with signing a player like ashley cole then no one will be good enough. As said previouslt still one of the best lb in the world.

Some people get too wrapped up in people lives outside of football. I cant think of many times in coles 15 year career hes been pulled up for a bad attitude or caused any major problems.

As for rio he still a class act and more than good enough for QPR. Rio struggling to get into a utd team is much different then him playing for us. The key is to play rio for a year along side ned or a caulker so they can get invaluable experience.
Its not about superstar names too and your going off mark hughes signings. Harry buying wise has brought in solid players he trusts.

I think character goes hand in hand with ability. How many debates have been had on here over Adel? And you may remember NW used to invite potential signings to his house so his Mrs could run the rule.

And then there's the likes of Bosingwa. Could play a bit but terrible attitude. The same with Anelka.

Rio would help us a lot, if fit enough to play. But the deal has to be right, and not for more than one year! (In case he turns out to be crocked for good.)

Personally, I DO care what he is paid and how long his contract is because money that is spent on him is not available to be spent on other players, which weakens the squad if we pay him too much. We don't have unlimited funding like Man U!

This is my view if the deal suits us then welcome on board if it don't move on but I would not simply turn my nose up on him based on some of the reasons some have been spouting. I would not be against making and shortage in salary up to 80k a week at the end of the season if he A) makes a certain amount of appearances and B) we stay up as he for me would have earned it

A deal which suits us no problem with him coming a deal which purely suits Rio then no

thing with Rio is he has always had a good football brain, that will compensate for his lack of pace. In fact he will help bring Ned along. Reminds me of the Frank McLintock signing, what a player he was for the r's
I must away now, I can no longer tarry
This morning's tempest I have to cross

Some of us would prefer a good CB that can be developed. You say he's near the end of his career and you are right. As Joey Barton has said, QPR cannot be a place where good players come to die. You appear to disagree, which is of course your right. As I've said elsewhere, for every Dunne Hill and Nelsen, there's a Hateley Park and Dyer.

Shout for Rio all you like, we don't all have to jump on the bandwagon. Sorry to disappoint.
Nobody is asking you to jump on any bandwagon, opinions are fine, but you choose to go on the attack if people disagree with you. As for all the rubbish about his contract, and if we don't think he's worth a 3 year deal we must therefore think he's past it and not worth a 1 year deal either. It's just a stupid comment.

                      • To those that keep saying they want players they can develop, we don't need to do that...we have very rich backers who are willing to buy us the here and now.
All the years i've supported Rangers that was the policy develop and sell. Just enjoy being able to buy very good players.
Oh and we are developing players Donaldson a cb being one

Its all about balance, youth and experience. The better the experienced players are the more the youth will learn from them. It's no real surprise that talented young players thrived at Utd over the years with real class talent around them every day.
