I have to agree with you isle, I am not keen on the signing and he isn't like Terry who reads the game, he needs pace and unfortunately that has deserted him.
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

Exactly that, and vidic in his prime wasn't as good as rio in his prime, and that's a fact

You 2 got to be joking right? Rio Ferdinand is probably the best ball playing CB of his generation! And terry doesn't read the game, he is pure blood and guts. Nothing wrong with that, but to say he reads the game and Rio doesn't is like saying Henry was a bully ST and Shearer was all about finesse

Good post mate. It is all very selective on here when it comes to new signings isn't it?
RF was one of the best footballing CBs I have ever seen. Delighted if this comes off at the right terms.

Wow cant believe what i'm reading about rio. He was one of the best cb's I have seen. Great, touch, composure and awareness. He's lost some speed and is more injury prone now but thats a age thing.
Rio brought in on 30 - 40 k week basic with incentives for performance is a fantastic deal for this club. Get rio playing 20 games this year against our rivals and we have such a huge asset.
Rio could be the reason we sign someone like caulker too.

I think that's the problem with some on here (me included) about signing Rio. We'll be getting the slower more injury prone Rio, as apposed to the one people remember....

....but I'd probably be less concerned if it meant getting Caulker..... but then again I'd much rather Ned and Caulker start instead of Rio and Caulker..... but without Rio they would probably be no Caulker.... AHHH I don't know what I want any more... what will be will be!!!
                SIR LESLIE FERDINAND!!

A 3 year deal for any player that age would clearly be ridiculous so what is the point in asking?
Not my obsession mate, perhaps yours? So if he's as good as some of you make out, and he's fit, why not give him a long contract to secure his services?

Unless of course you doubt he'll last the distance, which is the stage some of us think he's reached already.
Supporting QPR isn't just about a football team. It's about roots and identity.

I understand what you mean. Theres a risk factor to this deal massively. We all know its a punt and could go either way. Could be really shrewd business by harry where we get a rio who at 70 % capacity is better then most or he flops or worse we pay him 40 k a week if to be believed to sit on the sidelines all year.
Me personally would love to see him come in play 15 - 20 games which I think he can do and then we see a partnership of caulker and ned for the rest of the year.

I think he might have a future as a defence coach. But that means being paid coaching staff wages.

As to actually playing him, everyones legs go sooner or later and no amount of skill can cover it.

Makes you laugh listening to some. Englands most decorated defender in the past 20 years, correct me if I'm wrong, yet some think he can't read the game or play football. This sites gone down the pan far more than Rio. Ridiculous.

Have to agree, Rio one of the top defenders of his generation.

Rio is miles and miles better than any defender we have at the club or have had in the last 20 years.

How am I obsessed for querying you repeatedly asking the same question. FFS.

If you really are that clueless to need to ask such a question.... just because someone has plenty of worth for a year, doesn't mean they are worth a 3 year contract. It's not rocket science, but clearly not simple enough for some.

It does make me laugh at how some regard RF. Having a player of his calibre who has achieved so much in the game must surely be a good thing and it does sound that we are calling the shots not him, so how can we not want one of the greatest defenders in recent history to join our club at the right price ! Also think he has come across very well during the World Cup.
