There has still been no confirmation either way as to whether or not he has a release clause.

I hope the club never again enters into such a contract with a player.
In future, we sign a player for four years, we should at the very least expect that player to play at least two consecutive seasons, no matter what division we're in.
More especially, if we are paying that player a damn good wage, as well.

And in that case we wouldn't have got him in the first place. You can make any demand you want or insist on this or that wage structure. The result is you end up with last minute duds like Maiga and Doyle.

To be honest, wouldn't have mattered if we'd lost out on him, as we got relegated with him anyway.
Thing is, his presence wasn't worth the sort of contract that shows a massive disrespect to our football club.
Whoever Remy thinks he is, he is not bigger than Queen's Park Rangers FC.

I really don't get this reply. We brought Remy in to absolutely go for it to see if we could stay up and was a absolute coup for the club and he was brilliant. Showed his class but unfortunately as a team we wasn't good enough. He would of been with us.last year if we was in the prem but as we was relegated 1 we couldn't afford to gamble and pay his wages in the league below and two Remy is a top.class player deserving of premier football.
We only got him as Harry said we can be a stepping stone to the elite teams.
Remy don't think he's bigger than qpr but the truth is he is. Easily a top four or six.striker and we can't give him that. He would of gone this summer no matter what.

Look, we'll have to agree to disagree here.
I'm one of those people who will never accept that any player on our books, any player who has agreed to sign a contract and play for Queen's Park Rangers, any player who didn't feel they were too good for QPR, as Remy obviously didn't, because he quite happily signed on the dotted line quick enough, I will never accept that such a player is bigger than our club.
Once you start giving players the idea that they are bigger than the club that handsomely employs them, you only make a rod for your own back.
Anyways, as I have stated before, I hope our club has the good sense in future, no matter what position we are in, to avoid the 'I'm too good for you' brigade.

Not bigger than the club, but a player that could easily play for a bigger club.

We'd never have got him if there wasn't a sweetener of some kind in the contract. He came in, and did what we asked him to. Not going to slate him for that

It was a risk worth taking, even if it didn't pay off overall, and certainly not something to criticise the club for. Plenty of other signings that worked out as far, far worse business.

I agree with you. I think if a player comes to a club (whatever club) and signs a contract, there should be no release clause. If the club goes down then he should taken responsibility (even if he does not think it is his fault). Remy know the position the club was in when he came, so when he signed the contract he should have agreed to stay for four years (or however long the contract). He played for us for half a season and we went down, so whether or not he was there it made no difference. He did nothing to help us come up.

This is modern day football - loyalty is a dying thing in football it's all money based. We would of never got Remy to qpr if we hadn't offered a sweetner.
We took a gamble to try and stay up. We approached him and made these promoses not the other way round.

If a serious offer is made for Remy it will be made public one way or another to encourage other clubs to make an offer. He is a QPR player, getting promoted was probably a worst case scenario for him. Just like Taarabt may have to do and to a lesser extent what Barton had to do is come back to Loftus Road with your tail between your legs and play for the worlds greatest team on a very lucrative contract.

This is it in a nutshell.

Someone above saying we shouldn't have bothered because it didn't work, well it nearly did and he did very well for us in 15 games or so that he played. We were desperate, hence big money signings in Jan for Samba and Remy and we offered what we had to at that time.

Spot on weare. If harry plays 1 up top he has to start there and Austin on the bench. Remy is on a different planet to Austin quality wise.

Its so obvious by your posts that you two have both played at an incredibly high level.

you may be right, but you've yet to see Charlie in the prem

Dangerous game to play what with other clubs now showing interest in him, don't want to lose him to a club that'll guarantee him a starter every week.... 'IF' we keep Remy IMO it would be mad not to start both. We've got to play 2 up front.... They've got the very realistic potential of being one of the best partnerships in the premiership!!!
