Personally dont think its anything to do with his size, he just isn't that good. Doesn't compare ability wise or come even close to any of those you mentioned. And at 22 years of age it really is a make or break season for him.

you're right though. if barton is to be the water carrier / hollywood hoofer, we'll need a more mobile and athletic person alongside him than LTC.

Ramires modric etc have not bulked up their still slight players. Ramires would run rings round Carroll too and make him look like a kid. If he could pass the ball forwards you might have a small point on investing some time on him but he can't. Would rather invest the effort in samba who if we could sort him out could be like a new signing then bring in Someone just because they tick the young player box
