Bit bemused by that Brights. The strategy is not to get ripped off anymore like we were before. The board cannot win they spent big few season back and are accused of wasting money and overpaying for players they then switch strategy and start offering realistic contracts and they cannot get the players through the door and their accused of having the wrong strategy and not paying enough!!!! there in-between a rock and a hard place

In premier league terms were a small at the very best medium sized club and we need to cut our cloth accordingly. If that cloth is not enough to attract the likes of Caulker then so be it good luck to him and we move on to the next iron in the fire.

The QPR I started supporting done good business, found gems and turned them into stars; the first few transfer windows when we spent more then we should have were fun and exciting but that's not the club I fell in love with. If we build organically and over time put ourselves in the position to spend big im all for that but until that moment comes I am happy doing or business quietly and only spending what we can realistically afford

good post having said that don't give up on Caulker just yet as a lot of false info being leaked. Having said if true some on here need to face reality, if we are cutting back on wages you can't have it all.

Good post west agree on most. But don't think we do a business quietly an that's the problem. We heard palace were interested but never heard their bid was accepted or even made one. unlike ours straight away in local national papers then sky reporting it. Fair play on not getting mugged off on deals but there reported paying him on 42k would have thought we could have matched that can't be losing out to good players to them. Would except losing players to the other alleged teams showing interest but palace come on

Agree in principle with that but we have been promoted with such a poor squad major surgery is needed. Also Harry has no record of "building organically". He gets his chequebook out and spends big. He's never been renowned for plucking players from the lower leagues and if our scouts are unearthing gems they don't seem to be listened to...

Fair point on the quietly but lets not forget their manager came out first and said QPR had met clause so its up to him and correct we have not been told that Palace have met the buy out clause which begs the question have they??? or is this just paper talk.

If we think he is worth £40k a week why should we offer him an extra 2k just because Palace have we should offer what we think he is worth as a bidding war is exactly what he and his agent would want and what we have been guilty of in the past

If an extra 2k a week (when your going to be earning 40k with our offer) is enough to make you choose another club then fair play to him. If he wants to play for us but is turning us down for an extra 2k then we have dodged a bullet however if he wanted to play for Palace and has got an extra 2k as a result of our interest he has had a result

I think the fact that were not splashing the cash (we still may do) to me demonstrates that we have a tighter leash on things and Harry is not getting the chance to run wild in the aisles. Suppose the proof will be in the tasting come the end of TX window

Regardless of offering 2k more didn't expect or expecting to lose players out to rivals around us like palace. Maybe expect to much but doubt palace fans would expect to beat us to the chase either. Done well with players bought in last year but be under no illusions we need players of better quality quite simple. In for a tough season regardless but board aint silly long term want regular prem football and know the way forward is academy's (like Southampton) but till we have that infrastructure and to stay in best league in the world need to invest
