  • Any chance Remy could start the season?

There has been no bids to activate his release clause so far.
If Arsenal really wanted him then surely at the fee mentioned they would have done so by now?
It's not helped his chances in moving away, after hardly featuring in the World Cup either.
If someone really wanted him, and his release clause is £8-£10 million then its strange why Arsenal haven't snapped him up before someone else does.

More chance of you starting and partnering Chaz. (imho.)

I've been wondering the same thing.

No. Because if he's still here by the start of the season, he'll be gone by the end of the window. Thankfully we won't see him in the hoops again. Clean slate needed.

Dont think a club our size would be linked with players like the Ajax bloke if there were a serious prospect of his staying.

I reckon he is pre-contracted to Arsenal..

Good point - it's just possible we might be delaying his move to @rsenal, so we can get a replacement or two in before other Clubs see we have another £10m in the coffers. Maybe, just maybe.

Wage demands could be putting certain teams off.

Arsenal for example might not be convinced that he is worth 80k+ a week when he might not be a starter.

I just don't think any of the big boys are truly interested, as someone mentioned, end of the window and desperation by some club doing a QPR?

But even if others have been put off, it doesn't mean he'll start. Depending on other targets, the club could still choose to loan him out again, no?

There is a chance. As time goes by, the chances do improve. I thought he'd have been off by now. As we sign other players and make clear that we are serious about building a competitive squad, our chances improve. If he can't get a "Not Necessarily Champions" League team to sign him I'd say he is odds on to stay with us.

Are we even 100% sure the release clause still exsists ? For 8 million he's a steal and anyone with eyes can see that . For it not to have been activated makes me wonder if it's even in place . It would explain why he hasn't gone yet

I do not think there is much chance of him not starting if he stays, as whatever his other problems might be, he is a good player and we are unlikely to sign anybody better or even as good.

While he remains contracted to us then there is always a chance. Harry rates him and he would do one hell of a job with Charlie. Realistically though he will want to play European football... Slim chance but there is still a chance. Tbh after our last failed attempt at trying to get big players in on big wages I'm of the opinion that if he doesn't want to be here then sack him off anyway. Although we need quality we still need a squad of players to play for the shirt..

Seems like the Geordies are not even in the equation. Scored a fair few for them & not exactly lacking in financial muscle. Must of just thought what everyone else does, that Newcastles a shite hole
